It's Been Awhile, Huh?

In the immortal words of AC/DC...
I'm dirty, mean and mighty unclean
I'm a wanted man
Public enemy number one
Understand
So lock up your daughter
Lock up your wife
Lock up your back door
And run for your life
The man is back in town...
Which, basically means, I'm making a post here for the first time since 2011. So get excited.

I don't know if this is a full-time return though. I've abandoned ship on my Tumblr, but haven't decided where I'm going to land. In the meantime, I may post here occasionally. I can also be found on Twitter and very recently set up an ask.fm.

Best Tweet I've Seen Today

Not what I expected to see when I popped open Twitter this evening...

Links For 4-7-2010

Question

Do you pirate media you already own? I've downloaded an CD or two that I was too lazy to dig out and rip to MP3.I've also got downloaded rips of a few TV shows and movies that I own on DVD or Blu-ray ripped to the computer in my bedroom for convenient viewing.

Science Gone Scary!

Pepsi plant leaks stinky green fluid that isn't Mountain Dew. This seems like the sort of thing that leads to a zombie apocalypse.

Collider creates 5 MILLION mini-Big Bangs! World not ending. Whoa!

Entertainment

Lucasfilm developing STAR WARS comedy series. Those prequels were tragically comedic.

LOSERS director confirms he may do ROBOTECH. I loved ROBOTECH until I discovered the source material it was butchered out of. I do still have some nostalgic love for the re-edit though.

Karen Gillan: 'I'm a sci-fi geek now'. And... 'It just shows she's confident': New assistant Karen Gillan defends her short skirts in sexed-up DOCTOR WHO. Yeah, definitely my new celebrity crush.

To swipe from the popular 4chan catchphrase... "My waifu"
AMC casts 'Walking Dead' lead. WTF? Andrew Lincoln? Simon from TEACHERS? Not exactly the first dude I'd think of for Rick Grimes.

Anton Yelchin scores lead role in FRIGHT NIGHT remake. Two thoughts...

1) Is this kid the new Shia? Landing roles in big movies and not a lot of people like him.

2) Really? Another remake? FRIGHT NIGHT doesn't need a remake. Ever.

David Cross: ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT movie "not going to happen". I'd rather have this sort of brutal honesty, than stuff like the guy who made VERONICA MARS going around saying that the VM movie could still happen. Why get fans' hopes up?

Video Games

Gordon Freeman not likely to change soon. Probably not likely to come out with a new game soon either. Sigh.

Infinity Ward loses two more key staff figures. And Former Infinity Ward employee offers insight into former studio heads. I bet more and more people will defect.

GEARS OF WAR movie getting scaled back. Expect lowest bidder CGI and direct to video quality?

METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER/MONSTER HUNTER crossover. All this got was a shoulder shrug from me.

Official: CONVICTION vignettes blow the house down. And SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION’s stealth showcased. I can't wait for next Tuesday

First Crysis 2 video from Times Square, NYC. Really short and camcored.

Poka Poka

I generally don't do poker related links, but these are fairly important...

Massachusetts Gambling Bill Criminalizes Online Poker. In an effort to get casinos in the state, they're also trying to eliminate competition by trying to ban online poker in Mass. This has happened before and didn't go through. Honestly, even if they were to make playing poker online against the law here in Mass, I'll keep doing it. Of course, they might've removed the potential ban in a revised version of the bill...

Legal Update: A Massachusetts bill, iMEGA and the Kentucky supreme court, and more

Full Tilt Poker reportedly investigated by Grand Jury. They're trying to dress it up as "money laundering" charges. Total nonsense. The stupid law that's made it so it's harder for US players to deposit money onto poker sites didn't make poker illegal. It just made it so US banks can't knowingly send funds to sites. That's it. Since that didn't stop people, over-zealous anti-gambling nuts are looking for any loophole they can to stop people from doing whatever they want to do, legally, with their money.

Tech

Court: FCC had no right to sanction Comcast for P2P blocking. Or "court: Comcast can bend their customers over as much as they'd like."

Best Two Things I've Seen So Far This Week

Olivia Munn dressed up as the X-MEN's Emma Frost at Comic-Con...

Words fail me.

The other great thing to see was me hitting this a few hands after going all-in and losing my entire stack. Made buying back in feel like a good decision...

Just like last time I hit 4 of a kind aces, I didn't really get paid too much on this one. That's a scary board to see, and any bet pretty much makes the opponents fold. I did get a tiny bit of action by value betting the turn, but the folded the river when I raised a decent amount. Oh well.

I later went on to make back all the money I lost when I got stacked, and about a buy-in on top of that.

The Girl At The Video Game Store

I've always like Nerf Herder. I love Olivia Munn. I love video games. So a video by the former singer from Nerf Herder singing about video game stores featuring Olivia Munn pretty much was a home run in my book.

(Not that I've bought a game at an actual brick and mortar store in a long time. It's online orders for me baby.)

The New Doctor Who Companion (I Like!)

A cute redhead? That's a win in my book. Looks like Moffat's reign is already making vast improvements to the show and I don't think they've even shot a single episode of it yet.

I Think I Had A Dream Like This Once

Another picture post...

I think that last one might wind up as my Windows wallpaper for a bit.

GI Joe Super Bowl Trailer

Morbid curiosity got the better of me, and when I saw the trailer for the GI JOE movie was put up on the net, I grabbed the 1080p HD version. Surprisingly, it looks much better than the pictures that were floating around the net over the last few days.

The padding to make Sienna Miller's flat chest actually look like the Baroness (read: stacked) seems to work as well...

Click the images to enlarge them. Yeah, there's a bit of a pun in there.

Check out the trailer for yourselves here.

I still wish that instead of stuff like this or yet another MUMMY sequel, Stephen Sommers would've made a sequel to his best movie, DEEP RISING.

Links For 1-25-2008 Accompanied By Some Of My Mildly Deranged Fantasies

GEARS OF WAR film to be 'harder edged LORD OF THE RINGS'. After that thorough mediocrity of the UNDERWORLD flicks and his DIE HARD sequel, I don't understand how this guy is able to keep making movies. (Plus how the hell did he wind up marrying my future wife, Kate Beckinsale, how? How?!?) Even if it wasn't a video game adaption, which automatically equals "shitty movie", my expectations for this movie would be very very low.

That last link gives me a good excuse to post this picture of two of my favorite things, Kate Beckinsale and Diet Coke. Seriously, if somebody could build me a robot Kate Beckinsale that could dispense Diet Coke from her nipples and make me pizzas, I'd be a very happy man.

"Bulk of" Microsoft's 1400 job cuts to strike entertainment division. Realistically that includes the Xbox division. They really oughta slash and burn the Zune division. The Zune just isn't happening.

GameStop used games revenue estimated to be $2 billion. That's absolutely insane.

Eventually, if this trend continues, bags of chips are just going to be empty. I thought I got annoyed by half-empty bags of new chips.

Will we really see Bryan Singer's LOGAN'S RUN remake? Please let the answer be no, please let the answer be no! I really like the original (even if the DVD has horrible image quality), and a remake, especially by Singer, would just be horrible.

She Can Sail On My Barge

Kristen Bell dressed up as Slave Leia from RETURN OF THE JEDI is the best way I can think of to kick off the final week of 2008.

(The pic is from FANBOYS by the way.)

TV Stuff For Oct 20-21 Plus A Shameless Amazon Plug

CHUCK: I'm not sure exactly why, but CHUCK has become one of my favorite shows on TV right now. Sure, it's a bit formulaic, with the whole, "Chuck accidentally flashes on some spy and they have to go undercover to stop him while whacky hijinks ensure at the Buy More" thing. But that doesn't bother me yet. Of course, I do find myself watching each episode and wondering if Chuck ever actually spends more than ten minutes a week at his day job? Seriously, the other 4-5 characters that work in that store seem to live there, yet Chuck is constantly disappearing to go to the yogurt store or go on missions. But hey, if you're going to go after plot holes, well there's a far better target out there...

HEROES: It's better than season two. Of course, that doesn't excuse the plots that you can float an aircraft carrier through or how incredibly stupid the characters are written depending on what the circumstances the writers need them to be in. Still, the strength of the last two episodes have moved HEROES from my "I'm about to stop watching this crap" list to the "I'll keep watching this crap a little longer" list.

HOUSE: Somebody at the Fox network must love Olivia Wilde making out with chicks, since this is the second show on that network in the last few years where they had her character do just that. Other than that it was an average episode.

In between HOUSE and THE SHIELD I watched a bit of SHOOT 'EM UP in HD on cable. Love that flick.

THE SHIELD: Wow. Seriously, three huge things happened in this episode, and I can honestly say that I didn't see any of them coming. I can't believe that in five more episodes this show is over and done. I'm actually nervous about how this show will end.

I was also semi-psyched to realize that Comcast added FX HD to my cable lineup. Of course, the two shows that I watch on there (THE SHIELD and IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA) aren't 16:9 HD shows.

Wednesday is a "nothing I normally watch" night. Tonight I'll probably watch GHOST HUNTERS, which I sometimes used to watch with my brother, because this week's new episode was filmed in my city. I can't recall if I've ever been to the bar that they're investigating though. If I miss it, they usually put the episodes on OnDemand the next day anyway. Like I said, I'll probably watch the show live, especially since I don't have any DVD that I want to watch.

For obvious reasons, I've been skipping out on my normal Tuesday DVD/Blu-Ray new releases shilling. Anyway, over at my Amazon store, which is still very much a work in progress, I did link to this week's huge load of Bond movies that are new on Blu-Ray and re-issues on DVD, not to mention a few other flicks as well.

Megan Fox In A Bra

Personally, I'm generally not that into her. I get why other people find her so attractive but for whatever reason she just doesn't do much for me. Although, I do like her in this picture, I think part of this is those hideous tattoos that she has are covered by makeup (or CGI).

In any event, lots of other people (read: dudes) *are* into her. So I'm trying an experiment here. I want to see how much this single post jacks up my hits. It's a cheap ploy, but what the hell, right?

Well That's Just Wonderful
