Do not tase Wendy's clerk for getting your order wrong. I dunno, customers being allowed to give electric shocks to fast food workers might give them some incentive to actually get the orders right.
Annoyed by cellphones chats? Scientists explain why. Because listening to half of some idiot's conversation is somehow twice as worse as listening to both idiots in the conversation.

What if DOCTOR WHO were a Disney movie? Why does the TARDIS look like a soda vending machine?
Megan Fox dropped from TRANSFORMERS 3. Has she already been replaced? I think she's way over-rated for her looks and is a terrible actress.
Shia LaBeouf not afraid to tell Spielberg that INDY 4 stunk. He still cashed those checks though, didn't he?
Dirk Benedict on new A-TEAM movie: "They'll screw it up". Another remake for him to whine about. And again, here's another guy taking the check despite thinking the project is shit.
ABC's LOST set to be extended. The home video release of the final episode might be twenty minutes longer.

PC Piracy Drove Gears of War Creators to Console Development. Piracy aside, let's face it, console gaming is more mainstream than PC gaming. Nearly everybody has a computer, but I'd say only a small fraction still use them for gaming.

Worst possible "date" ever...I don't even... FML (serios). I came across this linked on the 2+2 poker forum. (It was in a thread about taking bathroom breaks during long sessions. Some people use "pee bottles" rather than just sitting out for a few hands and going to the bathroom.) Anyway, I nearly wet myself laughing at this. If it's fiction it's hilariously brilliant. If it's fiction than it's tragically comedic.
Things that can make you feel like an idiot almost instantly. This made me laugh too.
Man goes on f*cking mad rampage after playing a Wii game. I think it's because he realized that he had a Wii instead of a 360 or PS3. (I'm kidding Wii owners.) So much for "violent" games making people get violent in real life. The amount of violent titles for the Wii is pretty small.

So just how old is Jack Bauer anyway? Apparently 15 years have elapsed between the first and current season (in the show's timeline).
Theaters now paid to play even more trailers - how many is too much? I think the real question is, how long before movies in the theater have commercial breaks? You know somewhere out there, some greedy idiot is trying to figure out a way to make that happen.
AMC adds actor, producer to WALKING DEAD. (It's the lady cop from the SILENT HILL movie.)
Mira, ees the MACHETE trailer, pendejo!. I've been waiting for this since they decided to make the fake GRINDHOUSE trailer into an actual movie. Looks awesome.
Your first look at Rutger Hauer's HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN. This was the winner of a fan fake GRINDHOUSE trailer contest. It was another, "I'd see that if it were a real movie," trailer for me.
ABC expands LOST finale by extra half-hour. That's nice.
Slight spoilers for episode 6 of the current season of DOCTOR WHO, an episode that hasn't aired in the US yet. BBC receives complaints over sexy WHO. That least scene in episode 6 did seem like it was skirting the edge of inappropriateness for a family show. That having been said, I'm so psyched that this Doctor has no interest in romance with humans. It's so nice after all the mushy nonsense under the last production team. (Think about it, the Doctor is hundreds of years old and an alien. It'd be like a person falling in romantic love with a dog or a cat. Yuck.)
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS gets director, 2011 release. They got Matthew Vaughn to direct. I guess that means the long promised LAYER CAKE sequel is even further away now. (Probably won't ever happen.)
It's official! Hugo Weaving IS Captain America's Red Skull! This guy sure gets a lot of genre work, huh?
More Whedon-esque "Ass-Kicking Chicks"? This starts off slow, but it made me laugh.
Yippie-ki-yay, DIE HARD 5 is on its way. I expect more PG13 mediocrity. The first one is still the only good one. Then again, that movie was an instant classic.

Even Infinity Ward's HR and recruitment lead has joined Respawn. Ship. Sinking.
FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS gets glitzy new shots, and there's a FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS preview.
METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER considered for PS3. Guess I won't have to buy the PSP version. I'd rather game on the HDTV than a tiny screen.
GOD OF WAR: GHOST OF SPARTA announced for PSP! Another game that reminds me I have a PSP and never use it.
Medal of Honor Ships Out In October + New Trailer. Looks a bit MODERN WARFARE-ish. I'll need to see more trailers to bump this from "maybe" to "buy".
Arcade Mode for KANE & LYNCH 2 detailed. Still on my "maybe" list. Definitely a don't buy at launch and wait for a cheaper price title.
GEARS 3 rumors claim series spin-offs, story details. Of course there will be more games in the series. The term "trilogy" no longer means "three of something" it means, "as many sequels we can make while it's still profitable".

Porn stars decry piracy in new video (SFW). Oh no! If you download or stream porn for free, these poor people won't be able to fuck for money anymore! This won't just effect porn, think what this economic loss will mean to the coke and crystal meth dealers of California. Seriously though, judging from the people in this vid, pro porn is full of ugly people. Amateur stuff, which will never go away, so much better.
"Child pornography is great," anti-pirates say. Because they can use it as an excuse to try and implement filters on the internet.
Is just talking about infringing content infringing? Any day now, it will be.
RIAA gets AFL-CIO to support performance tax: payments in perpetuity for a small amount of work. So they're one step closer to charging radio stations (the same ones they used to bribe to play their music) for playing music.

Roger Ebert: Why I hate 3-D (and you should too). Because it's a stupid and expensive gimmick designed to enable the studios to charge more money without enhancing the films whatsoever.
Fox to adapt Ed Brubaker’s comic book INCOGNITO. I would've preferred an adaptation of his CRIMINAL series of comics instead.
Could THE OFFICE survive without Steve Carell? I think it's time to just call it a day. The show has been going steadily downhill the last few seasons.
CHUCK fans plan rally support for series. I love the show, but this sort of thing seems silly. Plus, I read that it's got a really good chance of getting renewed.
Bell 'campaigns for VERONICA MARS film'. Hasn't that ship sailed?
Chris Hemsworth's Thor: First official pic makes us believers. Never into Thor, but they did a good job here.
BATMAN 3 gets an official release date. 2012. Just before the supposed end of the world.
WALKING DEAD finds its Lori. It's the hot woman doctor from PRISON BREAK. Boo-yah!
"Nightmare" scares off box-office competition. This is how remakes keep getting made: despite poor reviews from reviewers and fans, this managed to be #1. I don't know why this story has a picture of the original Freddy actor instead of a still from the movie or a pic of the new guy.

Spanish mag gives ALAN WAKE 93/100; says its 16 hours long. Long is good. Forgot AW was a 360 exclusive. Means I may have to pick up a replacement Xbox sooner than I planned.
DEAD SPACE 2 trailer officially official. Really enjoyed the first one, definitely plan on picking the one up.
Activision to shut down Infinity Ward, says analyst. They might not have to, more people jump ship from there every day.
Activision announces CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS. I'm sure it'll sell despite the bad publicity over the Infinity Ward thing and despite being from the inferior COD developer. The name alone guarantees sales.
Activision to publish Bungie's new games. I always thought the HALO games were over-rated, personally.
Bungie Deal is similar to what former Infinity Ward heads were seeking. I wonder if firing the guys who created the biggest selling game of all time was a money saving measure so they could afford Bungie? Doesn't make much sense though.
Two additional Tom Clancy games under development. One is probably the next RAINBOW SIX, so I'll pick that up.
What if Kratos had moved beyond the Greek gods? Guess that's a possibility for the next GOD OF WAR game, right?

Pierce Brosnan did not enjoy making or promoting TOMORROW NEVER DIES. Out of the four Bond movies he made, this is the second worst. (The other obviously being the god awful DIE ANOTHER DAY.) I don't blame him for not really liking it.
CHUCK producers 'hopeful' for renewal. Given how I've either given up on shows that got boring to me (HEROES, HOUSE, BURN NOTICE) and I've got shows that are ending (LOST, 24), I'll be watching far less TV next fall. Hopefully CHUCK will be one of the few shows I'm still watching then.
Who can rescue us from another season of HEROES? On one hand the show had gotten so bad when I stopped watching that cancellation would've been a mercy. On the other hand, it would be unexpectedly cool of a major network to let a show on the decline wrap things up instead of just outright cancelling without concluding the storylines. (Similarly cool to the situation with Fox with DOLLHOUSE.)
The man who makes Will Ferrell funny may direct "cokehead superhero" epic. It's an adapatation of Garth Ennis' THE BOYS. They better cast Simon Pegg if they do it, since the main character is based on him visually.
The classic alien won't appear in Ridley Scott's prequels at all. Sounds kinda weird to me.
Bill Murray again dismisses GHOSTBUSTERS 3; “It’s just a myth,” he says. Meaning, there's no script or anything yet, and that the guys who were going to write it made that bomb YEAR ONE.

UPDATE: 38 Infinity Ward employees file lawsuit against Activision over royalties, alleges devs held "hostage". This isn't just people who left the company, which there are more of each day, this includes people still at IW under Activision.
Frank West cameos not stopping. Given how eager Capcom is to use the DEAD RISING main character, it's odd they didn't have him come back for that game's sequel.

The original BLACK HOLE trailer is the best trailer ever made. Ever. I say this every time this movie comes up, that it's the first movie I can remember seeing in theaters, and despite it being a bit clunky, I still love it to this day.
FRIDAY THE 13TH sequel slashed: Is Jason Voorhees dead? I still say that "reboot" movie could've worked just as well as FRIDAY THE 13TH PART whatever. I forget how many there were and I don't care enough to look it up.
Ridley Scott’s ALIEN prequel details revealed. It's about the big dead skeleton! But that's not all: Ridley Scott has two ALIEN prequels planned, confirms 3D. Ugh. 3D again.
The woman in charge of making sure you are not offended by movie posters. You know what offends me about movie posters? That they're all crappy Photoshops of the actors now. I miss cool, painted movie posters.
ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK is still getting remade. Sigh. I figure that eventually every movie will be remade. Any day now we'll hear about a GODFATHER remake. STAR WARS probably won't get a remake until after Lucas dies, besides his never-ending tampering with the originals is worse than any bad remake.
Bret Michaels has brain hemorrhage. Maybe those bandanas were too tight all these years.
Spock finally beams into Vulcan. Nerdiest town ever?

New DEAD RISING 2 trailer is in your face
Meanwhile, there's a semi-cameo from the first DEAD RISING's main character in another zombie game: Frank West leaves a foreboding message in L4D2.
Ubisoft's DRM reportedly cracked. Unsurprising. Where there's a will, there's a way.
Bethesda's suit against Interplay continues. I just want more FALLOUT.
West and Zampella bonuses spread among Infinity Ward staff. Well, that is if Activision ever pays out on those bonuses instead of using them as some sort of dangling carrot. Plus, by the time they pay out nobody will be left at Infinity Ward. They're all defecting with (and to) West and Zampella. Another batch jumped ship over the last few days. Activision really screwed up.

Hulu to launch $9.95 subscription service. It'll be interesting to see if this tanks or not.
Canadians want 'Capt. Kirk,' William Shatner, as gov. general! I can't decide if this is awesome or absurd.
Everything you need to know about DOCTOR WHO. A decent primer for anybody who's never watched the show.
Fox withdraw from American TORCHWOOD. Never watched more than a tiny bit of the original. I guess it's because while I like DOCTOR WHO, the spin-offs are pretty terrible. Then again, the common ingredient the spin-offs have with WHO (aside from being spin-offs) is that they're helmed by the guy who brought WHO back and then made it nearly unwatchable by the end. He's still running the satellite shows, but the main show is in better hands now. So much for ol' Rusty making a big splash here in the States.
BBC announces new Gervais and Merchant sitcom. With Wicket the Ewok. I'll probably watch.
SOUTH PARK creators receive death threats over 200th episode. Aside from the bit where they called out Tim Burton, and the hilarious Godzilla-esque song for Mech Barbara, it wasn't that good of an episode.
"Drama is dead," say Hollywood agents. Well, until somebody has a hugely successful drama hit movie and then the studios fall over themselves attempting to clone it.
Creed Shreds 4: A Thousand Yasseahs! This is hilariously brilliant. I laughed so hard that it hurt.

DEAD RISING 2's Xbox 360-only prequel detailed. I was planning on getting this for the PS3, but an extra single player story mode could sway me towards the 360 version.
DEAD RISING 2 – new zombie-filled screens
Next SILENT HILL rumored to be FPS. I can only imagine the complaints from fanboys. Didn't bother to look at the comments, but I bet there's some whining.
More BIOSHOCK 2 toys on the way. Kinda want a Big Daddy figure.

I haven't done a link post in a few days, so this one will be a bit over-sized.
Entertainment
James Bond is Suspended, Indefinitely. I wonder if this will turn into a situation where there's a huge gap and they wind up having to change actors like between LICENCE TO KILL and GOLDENEYE.
STAR WARS box set in works. Due in the Fall of 2011? That's a Blu-ray set. I don't know if I'd buy it. I'm tired of buying these movies over and over again in different formats (VHS, laserdisc, DVD), in some cases multiple versions. I'm not the only one: No, George Lucas, I will NOT buy STAR WARS on Blu-Ray.
Joss Whedon to rewrite CAPTAIN AMERICA as well as THE AVENGERS? Does this mean that the movie will get cancelled halfway through?
Wait, how do you make a porn parody title of "BIG BANG THEORY"? You get lazy and just call it by it's original title folloed by "a porn parody". Looks like a pretty good recreation of the show, and the one playing Penny is pretty hot.
The Doctor and Jo Grant join CBBC's THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES in special episodes written by Russell T Davies. Ugh. I knew that tubby hack would find some way to get his clumsy hooks on the 11th Doctor. Go away Rusty! Could care less about the return of Jo Grant as well.
DOCTOR WHO fans angry over theme tune. That's because the current arrangement is god awful. The best versions are the pre-80's versions.
DOCTOR WHO premiere - BBC America's highest rated telecast ever. Unrelated to this, why is BBC America planning to show STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION five nights a week? It's not a British show, and it's on about a dozen other stations (including SciFi, or ugh "SyFy"). Did they run out of Gordon Ramsey or home decor shows to overplay?
CROSSED movie to be written by Garth Ennis. Pretty rare that the writer of the comic writes the movie version.
USA to 'BURN NOTICE' two more seasons. I got bored with the show (felt like the exact same thing every week) and stopped watching, but I guess if I ever decide to start again, it'll still be there.
Kevin Conroy's Batman zings Christian Bale: "you sound ridiculous". Yeah, the "Bat-voice" in the second flick was awful.
American anime pioneer Carl Macek passes away. Wow, that's shocking. I remember loving ROBOTECH as a kid, and still have some fondness for it, even though I moved on to the original unedited versions of the shows that got hacked up and re-written into ROBOTECH.
Gatchaman Trailer: A Look at a Movie We May Never See. I loved BATTLE OF THE PLANETS as a kid, and was psyched as an adult to get bootleg VHS copies of the show in the early 90's (it wasn't commecially available back then). Then I was able to see some of the original, unedited (read: chopped up horribly for US TV) versions of GATCHAMAN. This looks like it would've been cool.
Leonard Nimoy retires from acting, for good this time. Well, he is almost 80. Shatner's still cranking along though!
HBO renews CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM for eighth season. At least the next season won't have all that SEINFELD gimmick hype.
Rutger Hauer is a HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN. Whoa, they're making this?

MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3 formally announced for spring 2011 release
MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3 officially debuts with a gorgeous trailer
Nolan North: UNCHARTED 3 is "common sense". Given the success of the first two, is there anybody who didn't think there's going to be a third?
Uncut PEACE WALKER coming to U.S.. Still on the fence about picking this one up.
Ubisoft undecided on future SPLINTER CELL exclusivity. I imagine the next game will be multi-platform. I'm sure CONVICTION will eventually come out for the PS3 as well.
SC Conviction publicity stunt almost causes a shooting. Wow, this is dumb.
ARKHAM ASYLUM 2 reportedly "much darker," featuring Two-Face. I still haven't played the first one.
Ubisoft transitioning to digital game manuals. Given in-game tutorials, paper manuals are completely useless now. Sounds like they're going with cheaper cases too.
New DEAD RISING 2 trailer is in your face. I'll probably pick this up.
Infinity Ward
So many of these, most presented without commentary.
Who is left at Infinity Ward? "Clever video puts dramatic Infinity Ward job losses into perspective." It's basically MODERN WARFARE 2's credits with names of people who have left crossed out.
Infinity Ward will "continue to crumble"
Infinity Ward bloodletting continues
Infinity Ward continuing to fall apart, according to source
Infinity Ward insider says the studio is “dead”
Infinity Ward staffer: “We are not dead”. Anybody else think there should be a "yet" at the end of that sentence?
Infinity Ward sackings were "horrifying", says Insomniac

MPAA trying to recruit Homeland Security to protect movies. What exactly does Homeland Security have to do with copyright? Isn't there job to stop terrorists? Of course, to the MPAA, people downloading things are "terrorists".
MPAA and RIAA call for copyright police state. How long before they get their own branch of government, complete with their own enforcement agents?
Just like Comcast? RCN accused of throttling P2P. Given how they used to treat their employees, I can easily see them shafting customers.

Library of Congress: We're archiving every tweet ever made. Given how vaccuous most Twitter posts are, including my own, this seems incredibly stupid.
US government finally admits most piracy estimates are bogus. So they finally admit what everybody already knew all along?

Whoa! Joss Whedon to direct THE AVENGERS! This hasn't been confirmed yet.
Hayley Atwell cast as CAPTAIN AMERICA’s WWII love interest. I couldn't figure out where I knew her from until I IMDBed her and saw she was in the abysmal THE PRISONER remake.
Bad acid trip inspired first DOCTOR WHO regeneration. The concept of regeneration is one of the most brilliant parts of the show, and what enabled it to keep going for so long.

GEARS OF WAR 3 officially official, coming April 5, 2011. "Last of the trilogy", but you just know there will be a GEARS OF WAR 4 and 5 and so on.
Capcom: First DEAD RISING 'felt too Japanese'. If by "felt too Japanese" they meant, "had a horrible save system", then yeah. Most Western games let you save wherever, or have fairly convenient check points. Japanese games still seem to be stuck with save points.
Take-Two: Annual sequels an enemy of creativity. I guess this is why they've managed to resist churning out a new GRAND THEFT AUTO game every year.
Infinity Ward staff exodus gathers pace. Four more here, that makes eight (or is it nine? there's only eight in the story) so far.
Zampella and West Respawn back with EA – everything you need to know
Free SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION DLC coming weekly. Well, that's kinda nice that it's free. I'll probably grab any single-player content I can. Well, if I can fix my Xbox, that is.
No one wants a “solitary experience” anymore, says Conviction’s multiplayer director. Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. Screw multiplayer. I only play single-player. And I'm not the only one. (The only time I play more than single player is every once in awhile when I'm over a friend's house and we're sitting next to each other playing.)

Steven Seagal sued for allegedly keeping sex slaves. What? This is so disturbing on multiple levels.
Thousands trash LOTR Blu-Ray BEFORE its release! They're against the studio going for a double-dip again like the did with DVD. I agree.
See what James Cameron's SPIDER-MAN would've looked like. Meh.
Video Games
Read GamePro's article on why SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION is so late while you're waiting for the game to come out. It explains why the original version of CONVICTION was scrapped and even why Sam doesn't look "homeless" in the second version of the game. It's a really interesting read.
New developer Vatra taking the reins of SILENT HILL franchise. Given the lukewarm reception to the last few games, I'm surprised Konami is farming another one out in the series.
Remedy planning to make ALAN WAKE 2. I guess waiting to see if the first one does well isn't something game companies bother with anymore.
Rockstar releases new trailer of GTA: EPS FROM LIBERTY CITY. The PS3 and PC versions hit this week.

Hollywood filmmakers abuse lowly production staff. Does this sound the slightest bit surprising?
Showtime picks up SHAMELESS to series. I can't imagine a remake being anywhere near as good as the original. And even the original lost steam after the first few seasons, as more and more of the original cast have left. How many original cast members are there now? Two?
Actor Nicolas Cage loses L.A. mansion to lender. Wow. You know times are bad when movie stars are losing their houses.
Michael Madsen spills on Tarantino's latest 'Vega Brothers' idea. I like most of Tarantino's films, but a movie about two sets of twins who are all brothers but didn't know about each other just sounds bad.
SCOTT PILGRIM creators brace for a fan backlash. I don't think it's possible to make a movie of this particular title that's 100% faithful to the source material. At least, not live action and in just one movie.
An Oscar-winning producer is remaking THE TOXIC AVENGER. O-kay...but why? Seriously, the only question that springs to mind is "why"?
Video Games
GEARS OF WAR 3 coming next April. Oh, and GEARS OF WAR 3 details surface. (Hint: mech!)
Activision counter-suing ex-CALL OF DUTY developers. Oh, here we go...
Activision: Infinity Ward founders "self-serving schemers". Activision are really dumb for even commenting on this. They've already got enough public ill will over firing these guys, now they want to attack their repuations as well?
Ex-Infinity Ward heads fire back at Activision suit.
MODERN WARFARE 2 was “an immense disappointment”, says CRYSIS 2 writer. I can't say I disagree. It definitely didn't live up to the first MODERN WARFARE. Then again, a lot of games I was looking forward to in the late part of last year and early part of this year (like BIOSHOCK 2 and HEAVY RAIN) didn't live up to expectations.
MODERN WARFARE 3 in development. Good luck with that without the original creators. Hell, even they couldn't come up with a good sequel!
Ex-Infinity Ward leaders to discuss their "creative future" soon. I imagine it'll be something at EA. And it'll probably be awesome.
Ubisoft drew inspiration from UNCHARTED, MAX PAYNE for CONVICTION. It seems to me like they just wanted to use the SPLINTER CELL name to make a balls out action game. I'm still looking forward to the game, but it does seem like the developers constantly keep throwing the older games in the series under the bus in interviews.
IGN's SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION review. The review is positive, but this worries me: "The only reason to hesitate and pick this up is if you only care about the single-player story and want nothing to do with anything else CONVICTION has to offer. If that's the case, then there's not a lot of game to be had." Uh, all I do care about is the single-player story. I'm really sick of developers giving the short stick to single-player and focusing on online multiplayer. Oh well, I got it on the cheap via two coupon codes on Amazon, so at least I'm only shelling out $37 instead of $52.
Konami announces the next SILENT HILL. I gave up after the fourth one, which I never finished. (That's THE ROOM, right?) From what I've heard the series kinda went downhill after that. Anyway, this one will be for the PS3 and 360, so if word of mouth is good, maybe I'll check it out.
Ubisoft 'always on' DRM is here to stay. No surprise. And it's also no surprise, that it's not any real deterrent and people will find a way around it.
BBC announces DOCTOR WHO: THE ADVENTURE GAMES for PC, Mac. Kinda like extra episodes that you get to play instead of watch.
Tech
Verizon CEO: “We Will Find Pirates, Throttle Them, and Charge Extra”. This sounds to me to be less about "piracy", but more about charging users more for usage (i.e. metered bandwidth). It's all about charging more and giving less, and not having to spend anything that the customers pay for on upgrades to their network.

Do you pirate media you already own? I've downloaded an CD or two that I was too lazy to dig out and rip to MP3.I've also got downloaded rips of a few TV shows and movies that I own on DVD or Blu-ray ripped to the computer in my bedroom for convenient viewing.
Science Gone Scary!
Pepsi plant leaks stinky green fluid that isn't Mountain Dew. This seems like the sort of thing that leads to a zombie apocalypse.
Collider creates 5 MILLION mini-Big Bangs! World not ending. Whoa!
Entertainment
Lucasfilm developing STAR WARS comedy series. Those prequels were tragically comedic.
LOSERS director confirms he may do ROBOTECH. I loved ROBOTECH until I discovered the source material it was butchered out of. I do still have some nostalgic love for the re-edit though.
Karen Gillan: 'I'm a sci-fi geek now'. And... 'It just shows she's confident': New assistant Karen Gillan defends her short skirts in sexed-up DOCTOR WHO. Yeah, definitely my new celebrity crush.
AMC casts 'Walking Dead' lead. WTF? Andrew Lincoln? Simon from TEACHERS? Not exactly the first dude I'd think of for Rick Grimes.
Anton Yelchin scores lead role in FRIGHT NIGHT remake. Two thoughts...
1) Is this kid the new Shia? Landing roles in big movies and not a lot of people like him.
2) Really? Another remake? FRIGHT NIGHT doesn't need a remake. Ever.
David Cross: ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT movie "not going to happen". I'd rather have this sort of brutal honesty, than stuff like the guy who made VERONICA MARS going around saying that the VM movie could still happen. Why get fans' hopes up?
Video Games
Gordon Freeman not likely to change soon. Probably not likely to come out with a new game soon either. Sigh.
Infinity Ward loses two more key staff figures. And Former Infinity Ward employee offers insight into former studio heads. I bet more and more people will defect.
GEARS OF WAR movie getting scaled back. Expect lowest bidder CGI and direct to video quality?
METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER/MONSTER HUNTER crossover. All this got was a shoulder shrug from me.
Official: CONVICTION vignettes blow the house down. And SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION’s stealth showcased. I can't wait for next Tuesday
First Crysis 2 video from Times Square, NYC. Really short and camcored.
Poka Poka
I generally don't do poker related links, but these are fairly important...
Massachusetts Gambling Bill Criminalizes Online Poker. In an effort to get casinos in the state, they're also trying to eliminate competition by trying to ban online poker in Mass. This has happened before and didn't go through. Honestly, even if they were to make playing poker online against the law here in Mass, I'll keep doing it. Of course, they might've removed the potential ban in a revised version of the bill...
Legal Update: A Massachusetts bill, iMEGA and the Kentucky supreme court, and more
Full Tilt Poker reportedly investigated by Grand Jury. They're trying to dress it up as "money laundering" charges. Total nonsense. The stupid law that's made it so it's harder for US players to deposit money onto poker sites didn't make poker illegal. It just made it so US banks can't knowingly send funds to sites. That's it. Since that didn't stop people, over-zealous anti-gambling nuts are looking for any loophole they can to stop people from doing whatever they want to do, legally, with their money.

Court: FCC had no right to sanction Comcast for P2P blocking. Or "court: Comcast can bend their customers over as much as they'd like."

First Crysis 2 video from Times Square, NYC. Really short and camcored.

Is Joss Whedon really in line to direct THE AVENGERS? If so, expect the Wasp to be the one doing all of the actual cool action stuff while the guys need to be saved, and everybody will talk in quips. Sounds like a bad fit to me. (And I say this as somebody who loved FIREFLY and liked the second season of DOLLHOUSE.)
It's a new A-TEAM movie trailer (no, really). Wow, this looks more like a parody than an actual movie.
Brosnan on his boozy night with Tarantino and CASINO ROYALE. At one point CASINO ROYALE was suppopsed to be a fifth Brosnan Bond movie, and Tarantino was in the running to direct (and write?) it.
Video Games
New PORTAL 2 concept art. Go look.
Cliff Bleszinski's next game debuting on Jimmy Fallon's show next Thursday. Will it be GEARS OF WAR 3?
Stealth will be "something you want to use" in SPLINTER CELL. For my first play through I plan to kill anybody in my way if I can't sneak past them. Later play-throughs I plan to go for a 100% stealth approach.
The Rest
Comcast rolls out broadband meters coast to coast. This is something they should have had in place before they announced the cap. The fact they they're just rolling it out now is laughable. Also, my state isn't listed as one of the ones where the meter is available.
Torrent site sends condoms to MPAA in serious April Fools' message. That's great!
Sony Pictures CEO threatens to stop selling DVDs in Spain. So basically, what they're doing is creating a market where the only way to get the stuff Sony is trying to sell is to pirate it? Brilliant business move!

Why you should never pay more than $10 for HDMI cables. Simple answer: because, unlike analog cables, all digital cables are pretty much the exact same quality.

Anna Faris enlists to be PRIVATE BENJAMIN. Ugh. Another pointless remake?
Kal Penn returns from White House to another 'WHITE CASTLE' stoner sequel
ABC's V countdown clock irks LOST fans, producer. Glad I wasn't the only one annoyed by it. Then again, I'm annoyed by any on-screen popup advertising on shows. Plus, V still sucks. It has the benefit of LOST as a lead in for a few more weeks, and the inertia of already being in the chair when it comes on might keep me around for a few more episodes, but if things don't pick up soon, I'll bail.
Smith stopped at customs over WHO prop. My question is why is he carrying around a prop from the show in what I presume is his off-time?

Ubisoft employee lists SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION for PS3. Not much of a surprise. I bet it'll be out for the PS3 by this time next year.
THQ: SAINTS ROW 3 will be “mind-blowing”. I really enjoyed the first two games and would snap the next one up on release day.
The reason DEAD SPACE 2's once Muted Isaac Clarke suddenly has a voice.
DEAD RISING 2: Inafune confirms “thousands” of on-screen zombies. Sounds good to me. I was impressed with how many the first game managed to cram onscreen at a time.

Latin singer Ricky Martin says he is gay. Is there anybody who didn't already have that figured out? This announcement screams, "here's an atttempt revive my pretty much dead career". In related news, I've got an announcement as well... I've never liked his music. Wait, that's about as much of a "surprising announcement" as his.

THE WALKING DEAD gets series pick-up. While I like AMC's shows like BREAKING BAD, and expect to like WALKING DEAD, since I'm a big fan of the comic, I wonder whatever happened to AMC. American Movie Classics. Particularly, the "movie" and "classics" part. Movies from a year ago, and a bunch of TV shows are really far removed from what the channel used to have. They rarely have old movies on there anymore, which sorta sucks.
ABC renews CASTLE for third season. Kinda surprising since it only gets so-so ratings. Still, it's one of those, "if I remember it's on I'll probably watch" shows for me.
The New TARDIS Interior – Like A Perforated Copper Kettle. I prefer the classic white room. This one doesn't look too different from the last one to me. Still it's better than the wooden one that Tom Baker had for a season.
Gillan: 'New WHO has amazing climax'. Insert inappropriate joke about how much I'd like to give Karen Gillan an amazing climax.
THE VENTURE BROS. season resumes in August, ends with one-hour special. That's a longer wait than I expected.
Big-ass developments will change CHUCK forever. Next week's episode will be what was supposed to be the season finale, before the order was extended.

SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION Launch Trailer. Two more weeks!!! TWO MORE WEEKS!!!
DEAD SPACE 2's creators discuss Isaac's voice, horror vs. action and much more. Looking forward to this game.
Layoffs hit KANE & LYNCH, HITMAN developer
Miyamoto: Violent games may damage “the potential of what games can do”. The guy is a legend, and has made some of the best and most important games of all time. That having been said, he seems to be stuck in the early 80's mindset when it comes to thinking about games. He's been churning out kiddie games with the same characters for thirty years now. Video games have evolved from something for mostly kids to different genres for all sorts of age groups.
Two Videos Of Kids Performing
Still Alive is adorable when sung by a large mass of kids. Given the lyrics, it's bit odd that a school let a bunch of little kids sing this.
Similar concept, except horrifiying... Oh the horror: Elementary school production of SCARFACE? Wow, this is just awful.
The Rest
Back when broadcast TV tried to convince the world that cable was a monster. Now the concept of "free" is horrifying to those same broacasters.
Cable ISPs: new broadband test makes our service look slow. So does reality. Duh.
Why do so many criminals wear Spider-Man Masks? Was the Daily Bugle right all along? I'd imagine the covering of the whole face makes them particularly appealing.

Idiots
Cellphone user sues movie theater after arm rest hits her head. Karmic justice. I hope she doesn't get a penny.
Hollywood seeks to kill off 3D golden goose with much higher prices. Clearly, the best way to combat people downloading movies is to make it even more expensive for people to see movies! Personally, I can't wait for the current 3D fad to die off.

VIDEO: DOCTOR WHO Clip From 5.6! Vampires In Venice! I love how when he shows his ID the picture is of William Hartnell, the first Doctor. That was a great touch. Based on the clips, I'm really looking forward to the new guy.
Rumour control: Rachel Weisz under consideration for Bond 23? I don't see this happening, but you never know.
Fox cancels "24" TV show; movie version is next. Honestly, season 5 was the last good season of the show. I was pretty close to quitting as a viewer this season, but since it's the end, I'll stick it out.
Bryan Singer drops out of directing X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. Good. I thought his X-MEN movies were over-rated and not very good. I did like the second better than the first, but even then, those sure weren't the X-Men that I've been reading about for over two decades.
Legendary artist and editor Dick Giordano passes away. This guy's been doing comics as long as I've been reading them, all my life. A bit sad, really.
Video Games
Rumour – CALL OF DUTY 7 called BLACK OPS, gets zombie mode and dedicated servers, more. Different eras instead of just World War II? I might be interested, although I'm reluctant to give Activision any money after their shoddy treatment of the Infinity Ward guys.
EA considering DEAD SPACE: EXTRACTION port for Xbox 360, PS3
DEAD SPACE 2 footage. Cammed at the PAX East games show, but still worth a look.
Exclusive: SCOTT PILGRIM THE VIDEO GAME! Music by Anamanaguchi, Pixel Art by Paul Robertson. A 2d game is perfect for that source material.
HEAVY RAIN will be Move compatible. They probably should've held HEAVY RAIN back to release it with Move when it comes out.
Yarr
Big Content: stopping P2P should be "principal focus" of IP czar. The unspoken follow-up quote would be, "After all, that's what we paid for, isn't it?"
Piracy up in France after tough three-strikes law passed. This sort of thing is proof that "three strikes" is a complete failure as a concept.
Rapidshare aims to convert pirates into customers. Apparently they don't understand exactly what people have been using Rapidshare for all along. It seems like they're trying to proverbially commit suicide (see Napster). Bonus points for taking shots at their competitors for hosting the same content that Rapidshare has knowingly hosted all along.

A few days worth of links. Old news to anybody who regularly visits my Google Reader shared items page.
Tech
Google Bookmarks Lists. Personally, I hate Google trying to cram their own version of social networking into all of their various online apps. I really liked the simplicity of Google Bookmarks before this. It's where I've been storing bookmarks that I infrequently access or things that I want to bookmark temporarily for years now. I'm also annoyed they changed the interface so that when you want to add or change tags on an existing bookmark, typing in the first letter doesn't give you a drop down box with all the tags that start with that letter. Plus Google Bookmarks runs really slowly now.
Idiot users still intentionally opening, clicking on spam. There should be some sort of IQ test that you have to pass before you're allowed to connect your computer to the internet.
Uh-Oh
Science says high-fructose corn syrup is pretty much the worst thing ever. It's making us all fat. Too bad it's in nearly EVERY item most people eat these days.
Business Fail
Blockbuster, Warner make deal to offer new movie releases before Netflix, Redbox. It still won't save a dying business. Good riddance to Blockbuster.
Comcast looking to compress HD even more. My mediocre HD picture is going to get worse? How Comcastic! Is that what all that Xfinity nonsense is about?
Movie ticket prices going up this weekend. Because higher prices will do even more to discourage people from just downloading and watching at home, right guys?
Entertainment
DOCTOR WHO cuts 'force creativity'. I'm one of those weirdos who thinks the incredibly low budgets, terrible special effects, and slapped together sets of old 70's and 80's BBC sci-fi productions were a zillion times more creative and charming than most of the stuff coming out today. Yeah, it all looked incredibly cheap, even more so by today's standards, but once you can get past that, it was more imaginative. A lot of DOCTOR WHO in the 21st century has been cookie cutter plots with average CGI effects.
Judge calls Dr. Phil a "charlatan". Best judge ever. This clown tries to exploit every high-profile maladjusted sap out there. Of course, now he's getting quite a bit of competiton from that other attention whore hack, Dr Drew.
Actor Robert Culp, 79, dies after fall. I remember him from GREATEST AMERICAN HERO when I was a kid. I also had forgotten that he was one of the voice actors in HALF-LIFE 2.
Confirmed: Chris Evans is Captain America. So, that's that.
Zach Braff: SCRUBS is dead. Just as well. As much as I generally loathed the JD character and always wished they'd do the show without him, it seems like the writers didn't know what to do with the show without him. Then again, losing the rest of the cast except for Turk, Doctor Cox, Kelso, and the occasional Todd appearance, didn't help. If they could've kept more of the original cast, maybe the spin-off would've been better.
It's all over for "The Hills". The only way this could be better is if they shot the entire cast off into space never to be seen again. Preferably they'd take the rest of the "reality" garbage with them.
Video Games
Microsoft releases 250GB Xbox 360 hard drive. So that means... 120GB Xbox 360 hard drive drops to $99.99. Still too expensive.
HEAVY RAIN's Scott Shelby had a cameo in a real film. Wow, he's even wearing the same outfit he had on in the game. It's kinda surreal.
Infinity Ward: "Morale is high" despite Zampella/West layoffs. I smell some fear keeping the peasants in line sort of action going on here.
Third-party upscaler makes Wii HD. Consdering the Wii's graphics engine is behind the PS3 and 360 technologically, I don't think this would make all that much of a difference.
CONVICTION creative director: Previous SPLINTER CELLS too hard, made Sam into a "grandmother". Sounds like they wanted to dumb the game down so all the mouth breathers who like "shootan" games could play. Personally, one of the things I liked to do after my first play through on the older games, where I want to see the story unfold, is to go back and try to get through a level 100% stealth. No alarms, no kills or knockouts, and never having been spotted. It's really challenging.
Redesigning PORTAL: Valve’s artist speaks. More on PORTAL 2.
Yarr!
Complete ACTA text finally leaked. Basically it's the media companies wet dream and trying to force their purchased US politican agenda on other countries. It's essentially a global DMCA. Of course it's also pushing for "three strikes": ACTA Draft: No internet for copyright scofflaws.
RIAA: "We’re halfway through a rough age". I'd say more like 4/5 through the way to extinction.

New DOCTOR WHO season 5 trailer: "it begins!" A week from Saturday. Hopefully WHO under the new show runner is better than it was under the last guy.
DOCTOR WHO confirmed for Xmas, sixth series. Not even slightly surprising.
Chris Evans offered role of Captain America (exclusive). From the Human Torch to Captain America. Probably a good choice.
Video Games
EPISODES FROM LIBERTY CITY PS3, PC Delayed. Not a big deal to me since I bought it for the 360 when it came out, but if you were expecting these for the PS3 or PC, you've got a slightly longer wait while they censor it for some areas.
No April Fool’s Joke – HEAVY RAIN TAXIDERMIST DLC available April 1. I thought the DLC came out for everybody a few weeks ago, but it was just for people who pre-ordered. The DLC is pretty short, but it has five endings, so there is some replayability.
Details surface about LEFT 4 DEAD series' upcoming expansions. Some sites had a major spoiler in the title of their coverage of this story.
Dumb Laws
No More Delays for the UIGEA. Guess I better get some money onto Full Tilt before then, since depositing after that will be more difficult. Withdrawing should be about the same as it is now. At the worst, I keep my entire bankroll on Stars.
Your life will some day end; ACTA will live on.
Massive protest against UK anti-piracy bill. It's pretty clear that the people have spoken and the old ways of consuming media and restrictive copyright are on the way out.
Dumb Criminals
Do not check your MySpace page when you're trying to rob an office. I can't decide what I find more baffling... that somebody would leave evidence like this when committing a crime or that somebody is still using Myspace.

Blockbuster Says They Might Have To File For Bankruptcy. Dead business model. Dead business. I stopped going there about ten years ago when they charged me late fees on three movies I never saw, let alone rented. So, good riddance, I say!

Tom Baker to record for Big Finish? Considering he's said "no" for years, this is kind of a big deal. Personally, I gave up on the Big Finish DOCTOR WHO audio stories a few years back. I just find it much harder to find time to sit and listen to something and pay attention to it, as opposed to just watching something.
Revealed: The real-life drama behind BACK TO THE FUTURE. Now you know why Crispen Glover was replaced as George McFly in the sequels.
Jamie Foxx cast in big screen KANE & LYNCH. WTF? Why?
Video Games
Xbox 360 gaining USB storage support in 2010 update. That'd be cool. Way cheaper than buying an official drive. Although, I do wonder if copying games to the USB hard drive would be as advantageous as it is copying them to the 360's? Would the USB be slower? With the 360's drive it speeds up load times, etc and saves on wear and tear to the DVD drive. Still, capping the drive's max capacity at 16GB so it won't compete with the official hard drive's capacity is crappy.
Sam Fisher goes rogue...starts tweeting
KANE AND LYNCH 2: DOG DAYS scheduled for August 24 release. I'll wait until this one becomes a bargain title, then I'll snap it up. Here's a bit about the game: KANE & LYNCH 2 producer talks monsters and losers.
Irrational showcases BIOSHOCK baddies that never surfaced. Personally, I think it's better these were dropped.
ARKHAM ASYLUM GOTY will hit North America. It's just getting here later than everywhere else.
Yarr!
Internet piracy taking big toll on jobs. Who wants to bet this was funded by one or more of the media companies? "Consumers have to understand that there will be nothing to consume if it's impossible to make money making the content." Wrong. There will always be people out there making music or other forms of art. They just won't be as commercialized without the bloated corporate backing. Which is probably a good thing.
Canadian movie pirate ‘maVen’ sent to jail. I always thought that was a group and not one guy.
"Piracy" sounds too sexy, say rightsholders. Well then stop calling it that yourselves, idiots.
As expected, ridiculous, wrong, exaggerating and misleading report claims that 'piracy' is killing jobs. Told'ja.

Fun Crime!
Inept crooks sneak into Sovereign Bank in Brooklyn, but don't take anything. Just to prove that they can?
McDonald's worker robs rival restaurant while on break. In his McDonald's uniform! Bear in mind, this is the sort of guy who probably screws up your order.
Erin Andrews peephole stalker lands in jail. Wouldn't it have been better to have just made a really bad Photoshop of her nude? It wouldn't have landed this moron in jail.
Entertainment
Jack Kirby's estate sues: Will Marvel lose control of Iron Man? They're suing not just for a piece of the action, but to co-own (and probably outright take the characters away from Marvel) now. Including Spider-Man, which Kirby didn't even create. These people are just related to the guy and had zilch to do with the creations of those characters that he did have a hand in co-creating.
Watch this now: Craig Robinson sings Jessie's Girl. WTF? Here's another version.
Larry David working on more CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. That's a show that's never slipped in quality.
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE star Peter Graves dies in L.A.
When to stop with BSG? There are a few logical stopping points that are better than the actual ending. Maybe the end of season 2. Or when they get to "Earth".
Syfy considers making another BSG spin-off series, plus two superhero shows. I guess they want to turn GALACTICA into the new STARGATE. Milk, milk, milk...
DOCTOR WHO's new companion explains why she wears really short skirts. I don't care what the article says, my own answer is that because the BBC knows what I like.
Movie producer sues Variety over bad review. I guess assuming buying ads would get a good review was a dumb thing on this producer's part.
13 killer spoilers, secrets and surprises from KICK-ASS. I guess it has a different ending than the comic.
6 1/2 spoilery reasons to tune back in to V. I'll give it a few episodes, but I was underwhelmed by the first batch that aired.
Would you watch a THE THING prequel even if most of it was in a foreign language? Considering I'm already against a prequel, doubtful. I do think it's cool that they're going to have the foreign characters speaking in their own language. It drives me buts when I watch movies or TV shows and foreign characters talk to each other in English, even in their own country, or whatever. I know it's because the (probably correct) assumption is that the average American viewer is too lazy or stupid to read subtitles, but still, it's one of those things that rips away one's suspension of disbelief.
Last night's CHUCK was the lowest rated ever (Subway, get ready). Uh-oh.
Video Games
RESIDENT EVIL but not: ZOMBIE INFECTION (iPhone). Wow, that's a bad RESIDENT EVIL 5 clone.
MODERN WARFARE 2 Stimulus maps priced at $15. Gouge! Gouge!
SPLINTER CELL CONVICTION demo drops March 18. I just pre-ordered, so I don't know if I want to bother with the demo, or save myself for the full game.
“Too early” to start thinking DLC for SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION, says Ubisoft. If they do DLC, I hope they do a few single-player maps. They did that for the first game, and all of the sequels have shafted those of us uninterested in multi-player.
Rein: Epic “owns” GEARS IP, “can do what we want with it”. Cue up the GEARS OF WAR on Playstation 3 rumors.
Epic Games isn't releasing any games in 2010. So much for new GEARS OF WAR this year. But... wait... Rumour – GEARS OF WAR 3 to release in April 2011.
Xbox boss says lack of Blu-ray is key to 360's success over PS3. Yeah, it made the 360 cheaper than the PS3 for a very long time. But now, DVD media's limitations are starting to catch up with the Xbox 360.
Fail
Only seven percent of Americans would pay for online news. I know I won't pay for it. I'll be able to get most of it for free somehow anyway.
Soda tax failing in NY, big joke in Philadelphia. It's dumb idea, created to generate tax revenue in the worst economic time since the Great Depression.
Meanwhile... Researchers urge government to levy tax on pizza. Stop trying to control what people eat! I can't take this nanny state nonsense.
UK P2P crackdown would only increase undetectable alternatives. People will always find a way to get stuff for free. Even if they have to go back to making copies and physically giving them to their friends.
House of Lords gives thumbs up to 3 strikes, site takedown. So I guess those of you in the UK will have to be careful. Hope this doesn't stop "illegal" uploads of my favorite shows from over there. I usually import the DVDs when they come out, but I hate waiting.
