Teenager BURNS a Pac-Man into his flesh. I think it's very very important that we allow people to do things like this. Why? Because it clearly labels them an idiot and anyone that has to interact with them can act accordingly. Honestly, I think things would be much better in the world if all idiots voluntarily branded themselves.

Student charged with trying to sell vote on eBay. Even if he wasn't kidding, which he claims he was, he's still being more upfront about selling his vote than our elected officials that pass laws are about selling theirs.

Games Sales Overtake DVD Sales In The US. Bear in mind, the average game for the new consoles runs $60 compared to the $20 for a DVD movie. I'm not sure if they're adjusting for the huge price differences.

Everyone be afraid! Predators move to game consoles. I do love a good sensationalist panic headline.

MPAA backs yet another anti-piracy technology: DreamStream. Bragging about how it isn't cracked yet is essentially throwing out the invitation to do it. Forcing something to be downloaded each time you watch it leads nicely to the next link...

Bandwidth caps could lead to ISPs benefiting from piracy. (More than they already do!) Basically they'll be able to charge huge overage fees on bandwidth. All of which seems incredibly shitty, especially when you look at places like Japan where the bandwidth is plentiful and the caps are incredibly generous. (30 gigs up a day!) Honestly, there are more and more legal services that require lots of internet bandwidth. You'd think companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Sony, etc would be pressuring the ISPs to give people more and more bandwidth.

Judge orders Google to hand over Youtube user data to Viacom. Guess we all shouldn't have been watching those clips!

Man arrested for discovering true A.I.. There's some twisted logic: Technological innovation equals crime!

Study says many dial-up users don't want broadband. Who are these people? Are they the sort of people that wipe their asses with their bare hand and cross-breed between relatives?

L.A. Times to cut 250 jobs, 150 in editorial. Print media is slowly dying. Then again, they can probably count on those people who don't want broadband to prop them up for a bit longer!

Speaking as someone from west virginia, I can say that yes, some of them are. I can also tell you that the main reason is because these people are cheap bastards, and if broadband was the same price as dialup they would get it.

Seems to me there's a difference between not being able to afford broadband and not wanting it.

To be fair, in the US broadband is way overpriced (and much much slower) in comparison to what they charge (and provide) in some other countries.

Plus there are always people, usually old people, who just want to check their email and a website or two once a day. They probably don't really want or need broadband.
