Stuff That Made Me Laugh
The worst thing about crimefighting is the laughter (oh, and the chafing). The video is priceless. The "super hero's" voice, the cop trying not to laugh at him, the homeless guy telling the costumed dolts, "It's not Easter", "homemade Spider-Man". It's all just great.
This Blockbuster has pretty much given up. I wonder how much longer Blockbuster will even exist.
Oh the horrors when Popeye’s runs out of chicken. Chicken is clearly serious business to people in that town. The outrage over not being able to get some chicken made me wonder if there's no KFC in that town or something.
Law
Online gambling bill coming: Frank. Looks like pretty soon it'll be legal to gamble online in the US again. Not that anybody will have any money to do that now.
Can employers fire workers for what's said in a private online group? Despite the fact that people have been making fun of their bosses, co-workers, and customers forever, putting it all down in written form on the internet is a bad idea. It's bound to leak out, and there are bound to be negative consequences.
Supreme Court upholds TV profanity crackdown. Awww, shit.
Technology
GE's 500GB optical discs: who is going to use them? If they can find a way to make the burners, players, and discs cheap, they might find people willing to use them.
Big US ISPs roll out push polling to stop cheap internet. Imagine that! I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you.
Copywrong
Using trademark to 'privatize the English language'. This is where copyright is headed. Just typing a few common words that somebody else might've trademarked or copywritten leads to copyright violation notices.
British IP minister shoots down three strikes law proposal. Again, and I know it's repetitive, the idea of the three strikes law is stupid and, given how the internet is now practically a necessity in modern civilization, unfeasible.
No surprise: UK film and TV execs insist they need gov't help or they'll disappear. I don't think the BBC should be bitching, after all, they're funded by the public and the TV license fee. Maybe Channel 4, who have commercials, and the UK film industry might have a legitimate gripe, but let's face it, box office revenue around the world keeps going up.
Swedish ISP thwarts copyright cops by erasing data. Of course, the people who pushed for the newer copyright laws in Sweden are pissed that the ISPs found an easy way to circumvent it. Expect the law to get some changes requiring ISPs over there to keep logs.
Entertainment
For some, TV cures loneliness. What? Why is everybody looking at me?
Hmmm ... NBC.com is calling the CHUCK season finale a "series finale". It was quickly changed to "season", but still, it could be a bad sign of what's to come when NBC announces their fall schedule soon.
Ridley Scott is considering ALIEN prequel/reboot. Maybe the prequel could show us what happened to that giant skeleton the crew stumble across in the first movie. (I was too lazy to whip out the Quadrology DVD box set to take a screencap.)
How STAR TREK's Leonard Nimoy felt about playing Spock again. I imagine it felt like, "Whoo hoo! Payday!" But that's just me.
Roberto Orci confirms Frank Welker will voice Soundwave in TRANSFORMERS 2. They should've just gotten him for Megatron too. It doesn't really matter though, the Michael Bay movie cured me of TRANSFORMERS nostalgia. I'll probably see the second one when it hits cable, but I have no great desire to see it.
Video Games
Remember how I wouldn't shut up about RESIDENT EVIL 5? Yeah, well, DEAD RISING 2 is the game that's going to take it's place. Here's three stories about it...
First full DEAD RISING 2 trailer.
DEAD RISING 2: 7,000 zombies and plenty of chainsaws
Multiplayer? Yes, DEAD RISING 2 will have that
... and two that aren't...
Square Enix Boss: Japanese industry is "old people doing same old job". Don't tell anybody over at Komami that, because: Kojima wants to make games until he dies.
