First One Of 2011

A week into the new year, and I haven't gotten around to posting until now.

Games
I blazed through DEAD RISING 2 (Xbox 360) and BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM (PS3). I have to say I enjoyed DR2 more. The Batman game was surprisingly good for a Batman game, but the boss fights were pretty repetitious. Now I'm replaying some of the older games in my 360 library. Currently, I'm playing the GTA IV: EPISODES FROM LIBERTY CITY disc. I just finished LOST AND DAMNED.

Any opinions out there on BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 2? I'm not interested in multiplayer, so I'm primarily interested in the the single player campaign. Quality and length are my biggest concerns.

Poker
So far, I've managed to watch one or more videos a day, every day. My plan is to really study my ass off.

At the tables, I've been working on tilt management. I've also been limiting how long I play. I generally set a 60-90 minute cut-off for my sessions now, and just quit, winning or losing. If things are going bad, the plan is to just stop within my stop loss. I'm really hoping to stick to quitting when things go bad. I found that I played the longest when losing, trying to chase my losses.

My results so far have been fairly up and down. I'm trying to remain emotionally neutral to either outcome and just concentrating on making the best decisions I can while playing. That coupled with working on my game by studying hopefully will give me the results I'd like to have.

TV, Movies
I don't know how or why, but I started watching BONES reruns on TNT. Sort of like how in 2008 I managed to watch pretty much the entirety of NCIS in reruns on USA in like three months, given how frequently they run the show. Anyway, I got a good deal on season 1, so I picked it up on DVD.

I've also been rewatching some old BLAKES 7 DVDs. They seem to be good late night bedtime viewing for me.

Regular TV, aside from a few shows seems like it's still on winter break for another week or two. V started it's new season, but it's still pretty mediocre.

BONES is a weird show to me. I like it enough to watch it when I catch it on TV and have nothing better to do, but that rarely happens. I just don't like it enough to actively watch it or download it, but only just barely.

Yeah, I probably might not have picked it up if I didn't get it on the cheap. I pretty much started watching it since right now there's not much else on.

Mike,

Good to see you're still running the cloud. It's been a long time. It's funny, but I also become quite the poker player myself, although I only play live games, nothing online. We need to talk strategy.

Please allow me to qualify the previous post. I don't know you personally, but I ran upon your wonderful website about 10 years ago or so, but got a job and a wife who insisted on having a couple of kids (the two most beautiful girls you've ever seen) and I haven't done much online since '05 or so. Needless to say, I've always seen us as a couple of guys who have a lot in common, and wanted to re-introduce myself, my old web-friend.

Signed,
Smitty

p.s. I know that it's taboo to "sign" posts online, but I don't give a fuck!

I absolutely remember you. As you can see, I don't update (or even check the comments) anywhere near as much as I did years ago.

LOL, I'm hardly the guy to ask about poker strategy. I went from a consistently winning player for about a year or so to struggling for the last few months. The only thing I could strategy I could share with somebody right now is how to get sucked out on constantly until they have to move down two levels in stakes.

In fact, here's some winning strategy, play at the same table with me and go all in with any two cards, and you're bound to hit a straight or full house vs my AA. lol.

Do you play in casinos? Bar tourneys? Home games? How soft are the games?
