Ranting About My Poker Losses (Probably Skippable)

I'm reaching the end of my rope with poker. All month long I've been playing break even. Stuck between my maximum amount and being down by about 5 buy-ins. If I get back up close to my max, within a session or two I lose it back. Repeat this for two weeks, with lots of banging my head against the desk.

Tonight. I lost 5 buy-ins when I was already down 2.5. So now I'm down by 7.5. (Which is extra bad, because I had planned to cash out a bit this month, but now I doubt I'll be able to do that. Among the casualties of this are my probably have to cancel my GRAND THEFT AUTO IV: EPISODES FROM LIBERTY CITY pre-order.) Budgeting my bankroll and cashouts, means having to leave most of it in there. I have a set amount that I can cash out, and once I've cashed out a certain amount and have x amount of dollars, I can move up to the next level in stakes. So losing the excess cash, which is what I can cash out, is a problem.

Look at this disaster of a graph...

It just seems no matter what I do, I can't win. (Or sustain a win.) No matter what cards I have, even pocket Aces or Kings, they lose to some idiot playing with any two cards who can't find the fold button. Why did I bother learning how to play? Why did I spend hours watching videos, reading books and forum posts, going over hands I've played to analyze how to play them better? Apparently, being a moron who's sitting there going, "LOLZ, I haf two cards, I'mma gonna mash the call button!" is far more profitable. Maybe I should start calling down with any two. Shoving any two cards above ten all-in preflop. Those morons seem to be constantly winning.

Every video and forum post recommends "value betting". Betting with good cards against worse hands. The thing is, those worse cards call down with trash, and magically hit by the River. Got AK? Hit an Ace on the flop? Well, if you're me the guy with A3 offsuit will call down and hit two pair by the River. After you've dumped about half your stack into the pot. Of course, the wisdom is, "reload and get him next time". Except, this month, next time isn't happening too often. Instead, I get hit and run* or never get anything playable. All "value betting" is getting me is broke.

* Hit and run is where somebody wins a good amount of money off you and immediately takes off. Sometimes, they wait a hand or two, but they're out of there, along with your chance to win any of your money back from them.

Honestly, I'm somewhat tempted to just cash it all out now. Of course, I know I won't quit and things will turn around, and that playing right will eventually pay off again. It's just unbearably frustrating to constantly lose.

I know other people have much bigger problems than some lazy degenerate gambler who's whining about his losses, but I just needed to vent.
