Entertainment

Official: SONS OF ANARCHY gets third season. The second season was great, so it'll be a long wait until September. I honestly think less episodes per season makes for better quality.

SHIELD alums to reunite on LIE TO ME. I don't watch LIE TO ME, but I might have to watch this one. Of course, this seems like an obvious thing to happen since the creator of THE SHIELD is the show runner on LIE TO ME now.

DOLLHOUSE's series finale: "Epitaph Two: The Return," featuring Felicia Day. I think it's funny the series finale will be a sequel to the DVD-only episode. The same DVD-only episode that Fox didn't want to air.

Video Games

Microsoft explains the rubbish new 360 game boxes. I had DVD/game cases like this, so it sucks that 360 games will be using this sort of packaging from now on. They can try to spin it as being more environmentally friendly, but really it's about cutting costs to add to the bottom line. The consumer gets a flimsy case that doesn't protect (and in some cases, actually damages) the game disc. Awesome. They've been doing this with some DVDs lately too. I guess Walmart has a hand in this. Something about some initiative their corporation is putting forward for more "environmentally friendly" packaging. Ironic Walmart are so worried about the environment when if you watch any of the number of documentaries about Walmart out there, you'll see they treat their employees like shit. I guess it's more about placating noisy activist groups. Me, I pretty much don't worry too much about the environment. I do worry about my discs getting scratched due to some shoddy case.

Shock: Final Fantasy XIII is 50 to 60 hours long. To me that sounds like a better return on a $60 investment than most other games today that costs $60 and the single player can be beaten in about a tenth of the time that it'll take to beat FF13.

The Rest

Microsoft: ‘Piracy no longer poses a threat to us’. Their reasoning is flimsy at best.

First Blu-ray 'flipper' discs coming next month. Not really a new concept. Lots of HD-DVDs came had a DVD on the flip-side.
