Links For 10-16-2009

Ah, while I'm at it, here's a bunch of links too. (Two posts in one day? Kinda uncommon for me these days.)

Entertainment

Do the Mario, remember Captain Lou Albano. Another icon for any of us who grew up in the 80's gone.

William H. Macy is SHAMELESS when it comes to Showtime. Bill Macy is a great actor, but I doubt a US version of SHAMELESS, even on pay cable, is a good idea. I just can't imagine Macy playing a Frank Gallagher anywhere near as entertaining as David Threlfall's. I do think it'd be funny if they could get James McAvoy to show up on the US remake though.

Bill Murray talks GHOSTBUSTERS 3, admits part two kinda sucked. The headline pretty much covers it, really.

Nathan Fillion: THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO? But he's Canadian! Oh, a remake of the old TV show. Huh. Oh, and check out his Halloween costume from an upcoming episode of CASTLE (Nathon Fillion dons the browncoat one last time before slipping into a cape?).

Ted will be scrubbed from SCRUBS. Awww. One of the better peripheral characters from the show gone?

Jane Badler might return for V remake. If it lasts more than a handful of episodes.

Fox trying for no Fall show cancellations. Even DOLLHOUSE is sticking around: DOLLHOUSE scheduled through sweeps. (Plus, the show is expected to have an "If this is our final episode and not season finale" ending: DOLLHOUSE will give you closure before wiping your mind for good.)

Oppo Drops DVD to Focus on Blu-Ray. Well, I imagine their Blu-Ray players will still play (and upconvert) DVDs, so I don't see this as a big deal. Hopefully they'll still make all-region players.

Video Games

LEFT 4 DEAD 2 boycott comes to an end. It should've never been started to begin with.

Over at 1Up they got to check out some of the single-player campaign from MODERN WARFARE 2.

MODERN WARFARE 2 gets $10 price hike on PC. Oh boy. A delay and a price hike too!

Sam's executions and interrogations featured in new SPLINTER CELL video. Holy. Shit.

New EPISODES FROM LIBERTY CITY VIDEO - FIZZ TV Presents: The Nightlife of Liberty City. I love these GTA promo vids.

Yarr!

Alleged pirate walks free under new anti-piracy law. Toothless.

RIAA and MPAA can’t stop BitTorrent, study finds. Again, toothless.

UK ISP attacks "3-strikes" with proof Wi-Fi piggybacking easy. Where there's a will there's a way.

No, the music industry outlook isn't grim... just for selling recorded music. Live shows and merch (t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc) is the future of the business part of music. Selling recordings is dead.

Closure is all any girl really needs. Is it too much to ask for? Hopefully not with Dollhouse, I'll keep my fingers crossed.
