TV From Thursday-Sunday, Sep 24-27, 2009

I wound up going to the movies* on Thursday night, so I had to catch up on the stuff that I remembered to record

* WHITEOUT. Thoroughly mediocre. Pretty much the only thing going for it for me is how much I love Kate Beckinsale.

Thursday

THE OFFICE: I remember watching this on Thursday and can't recall much about the actual episode itself, just a few days later. I guess that sort of says a lot about how much I enjoyed this one.

COMMUNITY: I gave it a second try. Still not quite sold. I guess it's a way to kill time until 30 ROCK comes back.

I didn't record IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY since I figured it would show up on OnDemand, which it hasn't yet. I guess FX is holding back on adding episodes to OnDemand until the next episode airs, like they've been doing with SONS OF ANARCHY. Which sucks.

Friday

DOLLHOUSE: Seems like despite having the usual "mission of the week" stuff going on, they're also paying more attention to the big picture stuff. Personally I'm more concerned with the on-going story arc than the "active" missions. Of course, some suspense is sucked out having seen the DVD-only episode which showed us where things are going, but it'll be interesting to see the bits in between and how long it takes to get there.

PEEP SHOW: Poor Mark. His life just constantly gets worse and worse. Makes for great TV though!

Sunday

CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: The bit with the impossible to open plastic packaging was on the web as a promo for months, I still found it hilarious. Larry came across as particularly vicious tonight, specifically with the guy in the waiting room and then in the scene by the car. Considering how put upon the guy normally is, it was nice to see him dish a little out.

ENTOURAGE: It's ENTOURAGE. My brain actually shuts off while I watch this.

I also tried out the first two episodes of BORED TO DEATH, but found the show's title incredibly fitting. I won't be returning for a third. A shame too, since I really enjoy film noir.

You have to get your hands on "It's Sunny in Philidelphia". As always, hilariously crude...

You're right about The Office it hasn't been as funny the past few years. I'm liking Community so far but I'm not convinced I'll keep watching it after the bump in time slots when 30 Rock comes back. I've already got too much going on that hour.
