Entertainment

Blu-ray sales up 91 percent in US – DVD sales slipping. The easiest way to boost sales of both would be to make them combo discs, like they had with HD-DVD. I'd much rather get the DVD version of the movie with my Blu-ray than a useless "digital copy" that I'm never going to use. Ever.

Speaking of Blu-ray, one of my favorite 70s sci-fi guilty pleasures, LOGAN'S RUN, is getting a Blu-ray release in November. I hope the transfer is better quality than the DVD. I own the DVD and it looks as bad as a VHS tape. I'll wait for a few reviews before picking this one up. If the picture isn't an improvement, then I'm not upgrading from the DVD.

George Romero's "... OF THE DEAD" finally gets a title. Personally, I think the series peaked with DAWN OF THE DEAD. The last two (LAND OF THE DEAD and DIARY OF THE DEAD were pretty disappointing to me as a fan.)

BIOSHOCK action figures ready to set bees upon Comic-Con. Man, those look really cool. I'm not one for buying stuff like action figures, at least, not anymore, but these look like something that I would buy.

Dumb Behavior Involving Entertainment

Kid drinks gasoline to be more like the Transformers. Nobody knows if this is real or not. Honestly, and I know how evil this sounds, I think we should let stupid people do stupid things like this. We're the only creatures in nature that seem to go out of our way to protect our weak and (in this case, incredibly) stupid. I say let the herd thin itself a little. This also goes for those idiots we read about every year around this time who blow off some fingers or other body parts with fireworks.

BURN NOTICE - Jeffrey Donovan arrested for DUI. "When you're a spy..." ...it's probably a bad idea to chug down a bunch of wine and some pills and then almost hit a police car.

Fun With Copyright

New Pirate Bay owners named in BREIN lawsuit. So first these chumps buy the site, an action that by itself was enough to make a sizable chunk of the userbase take off. Then they announce it will be a pay site, which is a move guaranteed to make 99% of the remaining users dump the site. Now, they're inheriting the old site owners' lawsuits? That's just some stunning business accumen at work.

UK men pirate more than women; everyone confused over rights. This has to be the sort of thing that sends blood pressure soaring at copyright groups. Good.

Valve: We don't really worry about piracy. Valve are awesome and know that people will pay if you make good stuff, especially if they got to try it out for free first.

RIAA denies DRM is "dead" quote. See, they want it back already! Heh!

The saying "survival of the fittest" exists for a reason. I really agree with you about letting the dumb weed themselves out of the herd. They keep diluting the gene pool. If we don't let them weed themselves out, then pretty soon we will be trying to water our crops with Brawndo
