Net Stuff

Google Reader Updates with Still More Social Features. This new "liked" feature is annoying, and at least on the official support forum, most people want it to go away or at least an option to turn it off. I made a Stylish script to add the space wasting "liked by" on each story and to hide the button on the bottom toolbar, which I accidentally kept hitting since it was put in the place of the "share" button, which I do actually use. (See my shared Google Reader stories.)

New Pirate Bay will become a pay site. Well, if being sold didn't kill that site off, this will. Seriously, a "pirate" site you have to pay for is a bit of an oxymoron, isn't it?

Entertainment

UK film critic doesn't understand using HDTV to watch old movies, why kids are on his lawn. I hope nobody told him that old movies were shot on 35mm film, which is higher resolution that 1080p HD. That's why old TV shows and movies shot on film can look great in HD, when the prints have been cleaned up. (TV shows from the 70s and 80s, a good chunk of the 90s will look like crap in HD because the majority of them were shot on video tape.)

DOCTOR WHO: Tom Baker dons his endless scarf once again. The fourth Doctor returns! Doing a short mini-series of audio plays, which is something Tom has refused to do until now. I'm so psyched. Tom is my favorite Doctor.

Eliza Coupe's Denise makes the grade for the new SCRUBS. She seemed to be the most popular of the new characters, and since the US version of NO HEROICS wasn't picked up, she was free to return to After-SCRUBS (or whatever the new name of the show will be).

CLERKS and CHASING AMY on Blu-Ray in November. Two movies that I don't imagine would benefit that much from an HD upgrade, since they were pretty low-budget to begin with. Still, on my "upgrade from the DVDs eventually" list. They're just low priority.

Video Games

Infinity Ward talks MODERN WARFARE 2. What? You needed more than that?

Pachter thinks GTA V could hit in 2010 or 2011. These analyists usually have no clue.

Kojima Productions 'aiming for PS3 quality' with PEACE WALKER. Well, that'd be impressive since it's a PSP game. Still, MGS: PEACE WALKER is Kojima's METAL GEAR SOLID 5. So it should be the best game possible.

U.S. video game sales post largest decline since 2000. Even games aren't recession proof!
