It's All Their Fault, You See
12% of e-mail users have actually tried to buy stuff from spam. This means at least 12% of people are functionally retarded. Even worse, you know the number is probably much, much higher than that, and some people didn't admit to being dumb enough to buy stuff from spammers.
Music Biz Buffoons
EMI quits selling CDs to indie record stores. Watch the music biz continue to shoot itself in the foot. Granted, record stores, both indie and big chain, are dinosaurs in the 21st century. They run around whining about how nobody pays for music anymore, and then cut off supplies to stores trying to sell music to (the few) people that are still willing to pay for music. In fact, I'm surprised the opposite isn't happening. I'm surprised the record industry isn't going around trying to sue stories for either not selling their albums, or not selling enough of them.
Stephen Fry compares RIAA to "Big Tobacco". That is an excellent analogy.
Are "hopeless" copyright wars against P2P "our new Prohibition?" My answer is, "absolutely yes". I've been saying that for years now.
Entertainment
Producer Claims That He Created LOST 32 Years Ago. Naturally, he's suing. This seems to happen every time something gets successful. Somebody crawls out of the woodwork claiming they created it first. In the case of LOST, the show's original creator and writer of the first episode, who was fired off the show before the first episode was even made, sued and now gets paid for a show he's got nothing to do with and gets a "created by" credit in each episode. (See that story at this link. It's sorta interesting.)
Will G.I. Joe Be The Worst Movie Of The Year? Well, is this really a question that needs to be asked? Besides, I'm sure there will be at least one movie worse than this one coming out this year. That having been said, I've got my expectations set to "suck".
Video Games
MODERN WARFARE 2: Prestige Edition includes working night vision goggles, original CALL OF DUTY for PSN/XBLA. While getting some night vision googles would be pretty cool, I think I'll be sticking to the standard bare bones version of the game. I just want to play the damn game, not try to reenact it in real life, y'know? Maybe if you're into the whole bunch of useless trinkets cluttering up your place thing, the prestige edition is for you.
KANE & LYNCH sequel trademarked. I kinda liked the first game. Granted, I know it wasn't well reviewed or received, but I like playing as the bad guy sometimes.
Take-Two stock hurt by BIOSHOCK 2 delay. There's consequences for disappointing those of us dying to get our hands on this game. Mwah-hahaha!
Quantic Dream met with Kojima to discuss HEAVY RAIN. Oh, please don't let this mean two hour cut scenes filled with incomprehensible exposition. Pleeeease!
GRAND THEFT AUTO and PAC-MAN? "The same". To a certain extent, I suppose you could say this is true. Odd, huh?
