Two days worth of links because I got behind on my reading.
Absurd
DOCTOR WHO fan dies, has themed funeral. Wow. Just wow.

iAwful keeps track of bad proposed internet legislation in America. (Found via Techdirt)
Speaking of bad legislation, Feds show their cards on online poker: freeze funds. The government doing this is complete bullshit, but then again I'm biased. Anyway, all this really is, is an annoying inconvenience to online poker players.
Bullion and Bandits: The Improbable Rise and Fall of E-Gold. Anybody who thinks that they can start something like this without the government coming after them with their hand out, is hopelessly naive at best.
Digital downloads spell end for video game stores? I say no, not as long as things like bandwidth caps exist. Games are anywhere from 6-8 gigs on average now. PS3 games on Blu-Ray are even more.
One-third of U.S. doesn't have broadband. I could never go back to the pre-broadband stone age.
Most firms unaware of Web domain changes: survey. I wonder how much it would run me to get .mike?
Abandoned Twitter accounts unsurprising considering abandoned blogs. I'm never shocked when somebody starts a blog (or Twitter) and rapidly abandons it.
Yarr!!!
Two variations of the same story: UK ISP boss: 'the pirates will always win' and UK ISP: Idea of stopping file-sharing is "very naive". Very very true. Like the man said, "They're not just shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted -- the horse has left town, got married, and started a family."
Music sale losses due to Gaming, DVDs, not P2P. The music industry can't understand fair use, does anybody think they'll understand they have massive (legit) competition for consumer dollars?
French court curbs disputed Internet piracy rules. Three strikes strikes out
Entertainment
Neeson And Cooper are THE A-TEAM. Interesting choices. I don't know how well a big screen version of THE A-TEAM would play out, but interesting choices.
If Mark-Paul Gosselaar is on board, the Saved by the Bell reunion is as good as done. Dude appearing in character as Zack Morris was one of the most hilarious things I've seen in quite some time. I think it's cool that while he's moved on to more serious work, he can still have a bit of fun with his past.
Starbuck helps Jack Bauer fight the terrorist Cylons. Not all that excited.
THE PRISONER headed to Blu-ray. Since, from what I recall, it looks like the show was shot on film (instead of video tape), the hi-def tranfer will probably look nice. I wonder if they're going to crop it for widescreen or leave it in it's original 5:4 ratio. (I'm pretty sure PAL is 5:4 while NTSC is 4:3.)
Masi Oka creates massively multiplayer movie THE DEFENDERS. This one's a big question mark for me. I'm reserving judgement until I see a trailer or something.
Mitchell and Webb can their own sitcom. Mitchell and Webb are awesome, and I think it's really cool they didn't want to churn out a clone of their other show (PEEP SHOW) and do something different and with a quality that they can be proud of. You'd never see that sort of thing here in the US.
Will Ridley Scott direct the ALIEN prequel? Sounds like Fox isn't interested in just having him produce the movie, they want him to direct it.
Brubaker confirms CRIMINAL Omnibus for November. If you're not reading CRIMINAL, you should be.
Video Games
Study: Gamers sleep less than non-gamers. I can attest that, at least in my case, this is true.
BIOSHOCK 2 will explore other philosophies, more moral choices. I sound like a broken record: can't wait for this game.
Video game companies still bitching about used game sales. I love video games, but screw these executives.
