Links For 6-18-2009

Tech

Mozilla pushes out Firefox 3.5 release candidate. While I made the leap early on 2.5 and 3.0, I'm waiting for the final on 3.5. Hopefully, it'll be soon.

Congressman files bill to stop tiered broadband pricing. I'm always a bit baffled when a politician introduced legislation regarding tech and it's good legislation. When that happens, I find myself briefly wondering if I somehow got sucked into a portal that leads to an alternate universe.

There They Go Again

Recording industry: radio is piracy, but not playing our music is a federal offense. Seriously, in no uncertain terms, FUCK THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. Their greed has made them completely insane and irrational. I'd love to link to less of these sorts of stories, but everyday there are multiple headlines on the subject that make my head shake.

Entertainment

New INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS international poster. I like it. Movie posters are so bland these days. The only way this could've been better was if it was painted instead of Photoshopped. At least it's got a cool layout.

Deadpool could have looked so much cooler in WOLVERINE. Yeah, he would've looked like a rip-off of GI JOE's Zartan instead!

Producer Frank Marshall says "don't spend your money" on IMAX Digital. Again, it's not real IMAX, so I totally agree.

Olivia Munn cast in IRON MAN 2. I don't know about you, but I love me some Olivia Munn.

Video Games

SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION first look preview. Not much new information here, but it does detail some of the new gameplay additions a bit.

Infinity Ward - MODERN WARFARE 2 is "the best fucking experience we can possibly deliver". Strong words. Can't wait to see how true they are!

LEFT 4 DEAD 2 cover art changed to appease ESRB. I don't see the big deal, but I guess it's better to have cover art, which anybody can see, that is less likely to offend those who get offended by anything and everything.

Teen gets 23 years in jail for killing his mom; judge, AP blame video games. Crazy kid, who planned to do it weeks before they took his game away. I fail to see how games, instead of the kid just being plain old mentally ill, played any part in this.

METAL GEAR needs better writing, not graphics. I can see this writer's point.

"Lots of work" still needed for HEAVY RAIN. Hard to wait, but if it means a better quality game, then it's probably worth it.
