A Fifth For August

Wow, I only made four posts on here in August. That's pretty bad. Overall, August sucked for reasons I won't get into on here.

After squeezing a little more service out of it, I think the 360 is "for reals" dead this time. I'm just going to save up and get a new slim Elite at some point. (Getting a new arcade and then a hard drive would cost just about the same, if not more than just splashing out the $300 for the Elite.) With the built-in WiFi the slim has, I might even decide to splash out for a live account, even though I normally don't do any gaming online.

In the meantime, I dug out my original Xbox, which is still running after seven years, and I've been replaying some old games. The graphics, and running at 480p only looks so so on an HDTV. It's also been a bit of a readjustment getting used to a wired controller again. Still, I've got a pretty big library for the original Xbox, and I'm sure there are bunch of games in it that I forgot about or never got around to beating. Right now I'm replaying the under-rated PSI-OPS: THE MINDGATE CONSPIRACY. I also plan on going through my PS2 library and seeing if there's anything there that I feel like replaying via the PS3.

Since upgrading to Windows 7, I haven't gotten around to re-installing any of my old PC games. I may have to remedy that, since I've had an urge to play some FPS titles.

The other day I decided to use my iPod, which has been gathering dust, while walking the dog. I forgot how horrible the iPod earbuds are. I plugged in my Sennheisers that I use for my computer and they sound a zillion times better. I'll have to get a second pair so I can ditch the earbuds completely.

I'll cover poker in the monthly results post, not that anybody really cares.

I can't wait until the new TV season starts. I like having something to do in the evenings.
