Tech

FCC Commissioner rips ISPs on broadband prices, competition. It's always a bit strange when a government official does something that actually helps the people instead of the corporations. Help the FCC out on this one: The FCC wants you to test your broadband speeds

Why new hard disks might not be much fun for XP users. New tech that won't be totally compatible with really old tech. Makes sense. I'm still on XP, because I'm too lazy to upgrade. (I've even got a completely empty external 2 terabyte hard drive waiting to backup my important stuff when I do finally upgrade to 7.)

Own a cell phone, or does a cell phone own you? I'm the worst cell phone owner ever. I usually leave it in my bedroom and forget about it for days at a time. I do carry it with me if I'm leaving the house for a few hours, but not if I'm doing something like walking the dog. I'm definitely not one of those people who seems to have it growing out of their hand, perpetually texting, etc.

Entertainment

Quentin Tarantino gets Smurfing Smurfy in 'Smurfs'. WTF?

Christopher Nolan reveals his plans for rebooting SUPERMAN. I'm going to get a lot of flack for this, but I think THE DARK KNIGHT is vastly over-rated. I think this guy is totally wrong for Superman.

Monkeys fly out of our butts: WIZARD OF OZ to be remade. What's next on the "they shouldn't remake it but they will" train? GONE WITH THE WIND? LAWRENCE OF ARABIA? CITIZEN KANE?

Haim and Feldman were working on 'LICENSE TO DRIVE' trilogy. I hate to knock somebody who just died, but the words "pipe dream" or "straight to DVD" immediately spring to mind reading that headline.

Football and TV star Merlin Olsen dies, age 69. Yet another celebrity death.

Cable companies to government: make the mean old media companies stop pulling channels. I bet in the future we're all going to have to subscrible to different companies own cable services to get the channels they own.

Video Games

Hands-on: SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION. Just about a month left. I hope CONVICTION isn't a let down. (To be honest, both BIOSHOCK 2 and HEAVY RAIN were alright, but I was expecting more than either delivered.)

GDC 2010: Sony motion controller officially called PlayStation Move. Maybe I'm just a lazy prick, but I hate these motion controller things. When I want to play video games, I want to sit on my ass and use my thumbs. I even hate the current PS3 motion thingy, the Six-Axis. I hated being forced to use it in HEAVY RAIN.

EA “disappointed” with Activision over Infinity Ward situation. Wow, you know you're evil when even EA is taking shots at your behavior.

Yarr!

Obama: We must move forward on ACTA. Guess we know who's pocket the White House is in, huh?

Because only the record labels are supposed to get away with not paying their musicians... The music industry ripping off artists while going after everybody else? Shocking.

Comcast funds BitStalker anti-piracy research. Not surprising. They are evil after all.
