Entertainment

Your first glimpse of Matt Smith's new Doctor in action. Hopefully he's an improvement on the last guy. I gave up after the last full series finale. I just skipped through the specials, although I did watch all of the first part of the final two parter. Then I watched the important bits of the final episode of 10's reign.

BETTER OFF TED reveals the origins of DOCTOR WHO's tin-plated bad guys? I didn't even know that TED and SCRUBS were having new episodes on Friday this week, so I had to download them. I was pretty amused when I spotted the Dalek in the background.

BOND 23 pre-production put on hold. This isn't expected given the whole MGM mess.

AVATAR passes $1 billion, closes on TITANIC's record. I still have very little interest in the movie, but that's pretty impressive.

THE THING prequel begins shooting in March. I thought this useless prequel was killed off? It keeps coming back from the dead.

SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO international teaser. I never got into YAMATO or STAR BLAZERS back in my anime days. Still, older anime is so much better than the majority of the crap that drove me away from the hobby in the '00's.

The Rest

New York Times: Amazon should tax shoppers. Oh, shut up, New York Times.

Technology not as advanced by 2010 as some had hoped. Unsurprisingly, I'm in that male age bracket that thinks like this!

AT&T asks FCC to deep-six landlines. For individuals this makes a lot of sense, but wouldn't businesses still need landlines? I guess they could go with an IP-based solution.

Six ways file-sharers will neutralize 3 strikes. I can even think of a few not listed here. Where there's a will there's a way.
