I Saw A White Light

I think I might need a new phone. (Or at least to find my spare cheapo old Nokia, which I can't seem to locate.)

Dad: "Why didn't you answer when I called you? Or even call me back?"

Me: "Uhhhh... Because you didn't call me."

Dad: "Yes I did. I left a message."

Me: "My phone never rang. Let me check..." (Flipped open phone and saw nothing but a blank white screen and a blinking "invalid battery" error message.) "Well, maybe you did?"

Turned it off and on a few times, and that didn't fix it. At one point it gave me the regular screen and then as soon as I pressed the inbox key it white screened again. I unplugged it and then plugged it back into the charger and no change. Finally, I tried turning it off, removing the battery cover and battery and reseating the battery and turning it back on. It seems to work for now. Still, I this is clearly another sign that an upgrade is in order. Hell, my Xbox 360 is more reliable than my phone, and those things seem to break if you look at them wrong.

For now though, I'll have to hope that's the end of this current problem. At least, until I can scrape up the dough for a decent replacement. (Unlocked phones are expensive, and going through my carrier means them trying to sell me a plan, blah blah blah.) Can anybody recommend a decent phone, preferably between $100-200? I don't want a piece of junk, I just don't use my phone for anything besides calls (and taking the occasional picture). I don't need a touch screen or GPS or any of that. I took a quick look on Newegg and Amazon, and honestly, I can't tell what's what. (Yeah, at some point I'd like something like an unlocked iPhone, but right now that's not in the budget.)

Moral of the story: For the three or so people that might call me... if you leave a message on my voice mail and I don't get back to you within a day, drop me an email. (It either means my crappy phone is broken, or that I decided that it might be a bad idea to return you call at 3am when I noticed you called.)

On an unrelated note: Are the UNCHARTED games for the Playstation 3 any good? I was thinking about throwing one of them on my Christmas list, since there aren't many games I want this year. (They're all coming next year.) Plus my PS3 library is pretty weak. (MGS4 and GTA4.)

Uncharted 2 is excellent. The first is good but the second just blows it away. They're both like playing through a really good action flick. It kind of plays like gears of war but better.

Would I be missing out on anything important if I got the second without having played the first? (Like the METAL GEAR SOLID games can be a confusing mess if you've never played the other games in the series, or parts of the plot of RESIDENT EVIL 5 might've been confusing to somebody who made that their first game in the series.)
