TV From 9-21-2009

Quick thoughts on Monday night's crop of shows.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: I still hate Ted. Most annoying character on the show. Nearly on the level of J.D. on SCRUBS. Hopefully they don't tame the Barney character too much.

HOUSE: Since there's a new hour long gap between my two CBS sitcoms, and the shows sandwiched in between look like crap, I decided to flip back and forth between HOUSE and some crappy movie on one of the pay channels. I was surprised to see Booger from REVENGE OF THE NERDS and Megan Dodds from the first series of NOT GOING OUT on HOUSE. It seems like this episode was a complete change in formula, with House in the nut house for the entire episode.

THE BIG BANG THEORY: A nice season opener. Glad to see they seem to have dropped the "will they won't they" crap. For now at least.

CASTLE: Hey, this episode had poker in it. So that's a bit of a plus. Still watching this show 99% based on my thinking that Nathan Fillion is cool.

HEROES: Just kidding. I think I'd rather watch a TV test pattern than sit through another episode of that crap. (I'll totally back peddle if I hear good things over the next few weeks, but for now, I'm sticking with being done with HEROES.)

For the most part I actually enjoyed Heroes. The only bad part I can remember is Claire and there's really no avoiding that.

Like I said, if I hear that it's back to season 1 quality after a few weeks, maybe I'll download what I missed and catch up. Otherwise, I'm sticking to my guns and I'm done with HEROES.

I hated the first half of season 1 so it's difficult to compare. I definitely liked this episode more than any from the first half. It's also just one episode so it could take a gigantic dive. I just figure I've stuck around this long I might as well continue. I have nothing better to do anyway and even at its worst it's still better than a lot of crap on TV.

I started watching Heroes last night and by Part 2, about 10 minutes in, I decided I'll be finishing this series on DVD.
