My Final Poker Results For September 2009

Here's my final results for September. I made three times what I made in August. I think this is because I switched from full ring (9 players) to 6 max (6 players), and concentrated on playing one table instead of two or three at a time. (I do plan to start adding tables back in though.) Anyway, winning over 40 buy-ins* in a month is a bit of a milestone for me. Not bad for someone who is still pretty much a beginner.

* For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about: buy-ins are defined as 100 big blinds, the max you can buy in for at most tables. What's a blind? The blinds are compulsory bets made by the first two players at the table the big blind being usually double the small blind. The blinds move clockwise from player to player. Bets are usually measured in big blinds. So at a table where the buy-in is $100, the blinds are $1 (big) and $0.50 (small). It's easier to think of poker money as chips and blinds rather than real money. (Well, unless you're playing with play money.)

All of the hands below the 0 line were at full ring during a more than two week losing streak. I did okay at full ring in general, but wanted to see if I could do better by switching. Turns out switching was a good move. I'm making way more money.

Bonus

Fun poker tip for October: Just like players with poker-oriented names (stuff like PokerPro3453 or AceOfAces348905) are usually terrible players, players with Joker avatars, specifically the movie version from THE DARK KNIGHT, are usually gigantic fish as well. If you get one (or more) of these guys at your table you should immediately hear "CHA-CHING!!!" in your head. Your milage may vary.
