Entertainment

2010 is going to KICK-ASS. Lions Gate will be distributing the movie. So that means it's a coin flip whether it'll hit theaters or go straight to DVD.

Why are we talking about DISTRICT 9 Oscars already? An Oscar? Really? I thought the movie was okay, not something I have a desire to see again anytime soon. I don't get where all of the praise is coming from, and found it a bit over-hyped. Maybe a second viewing (probably when it hits cable) will change my mind, but I while I thought it was a pretty good movie, I didn't think it was this amazing, life-changing piece of cinema the rest of the planet seems to think it is.

Neill Blomkamp wants Sharlto Copley to return for DISTRICT 9 sequel. Considering the movie made more than its entire budget opening weekend in the US, a sequel is an inevitability.

David Anders joins 24. So from ALIAS (spies) to HEROES (super villain) to 24 (back to spies).

UK youth survey: paying for music is a luxury. This is the sort of thing that record company execs are terrified by.

Video Games

Xbox 360 failure rate is 54.2 percent, Game Informer finds. My friend Tony just had his 360 die (RROD) on him for the second time. Hope he's still under warranty. If not, he should try the do it yourself fix before investing in a new machine.

BATMAN studio not developing next HITMAN title. I'm glad the HITMAN series is staying with it's regular creative team. I love those games.

I went to see District 9 last night and had the same thoughts. It was a pretty good pelĂcula but certainly not Oscar worthy.

I walked out of the theater more psyched to see the new Scorsese flick, which had its trailer before D9, than I was about the movie I just saw.

I think because it's a "message" movie using the sci-fi genre that people are making it out to be better than it is.

I found bits of it incredibly predictable. It didn't bring anything new to the table. Characters behaved in typical and often stupid, movie ways. (Why the "hero" didn't just shoot the gang leader the second the gang leader said that he'd come after him later is beyond me. Maybe I'm just more pragmatic and ruthless than a movie protagonist is allowed to be.)

It's a good movie, worth seeing, but again, not something I have a strong desire to see again.
