Band sues record label for digital music distribution ripoff. The Allman Brothers are suing because their label isn't paying them for legal digital downloads. The record companies are crying about people downloading because they claim that it's hurting the artists, then when people do pay for downloads those same record companies screw the artists.

Why we need fat pipes: the top 5 bandwidth-hungry apps. I'll say this, sharing bandwidth with a video chat addict sucks. I live in constant fear of getting one of those "you've used the internet too much" letters or calls from Comcast. That shit eats up gigs in a matter of hours. According to DU Meter, which is installed on that machine, the bandwidth eaten up by that in the last 24 hours was 2 gigs, with a projection of about 10-11 gigs for the entire week. Realistically the bandwidth over the next week will exceed that. Couple that with my own usage, and it's surprising that I haven't gotten cut off yet.

Twitter, Pownce fight spam with new 'follower' limits. I've seen a lot of complaints from people that they can't follow more 2,000 Twitter users. (Just bookmark the ones you want to follow?) I don't see how anybody could follow that many people and have the slightest idea how to filter that much information. Or why they'd want the messages from people they know to be buried in an avalanche of shit from people they don't know or care about aside from having a high count on their own profile. I only "follow" people that I know on there, which brings my total of people I follow up to a current grand total of one on there.

Robert Englund wants to be a Visitor again. Neat. Speaking of Englund, his most famous role is up for re-casting...

Great rumor: Billy Bob Thornton up for Freddy Krueger? I'm not sure how well that would work out. Englund as Krueger is a cultural icon.

Editorial: Why no one cares about animated STAR WARS.

Kids have learned: blame GTA even if it's not in the game. I never did get around to buying that "GTA made me do it" t-shirt I saw online.

Create an ad for an online gambling company? Face jail time! Some elements of the government clearly have nothing better to do with their time.

Wal-Mart: you can't scan century-old photos of your ancestors because copyright lasts forever. Remember when copyright had limits?

THE IT CROWD (the original one) now has an American broadcaster. For the three of you out there who haven't downloaded it or imported the DVDs.

Whoa. I was going to say "I care about the new Star Wars thing, dammit." But then I read it and... I feel like an idiot but I didn't even know there was going to be a movie. I thought it was just a TV show. Talk about not enough hype...
