Hey, Thanks For Calling!

I've had a rash of wrong numbers on my cell phone lately. I don't bother answering numbers that I don't recognize on the caller ID. Why waste my minutes telling somebody they've got the wrong number when they figure it out when my voice pops up when they get bounced to my voice mail? At least they have the brains *not* to leave a message. I've had morons who've left me a message for somebody else, including leaving what seemed to be private business information that if it were for me, I wouldn't want somebody just blabbing into an answering machine.

Anyway, given the large number of wrong numbers lately, I'm assuming that some idiot recently got a new phone and promptly proceeded to give out the wrong number to every person he knows. People that call all hours of the day or night. People, that call at inopportune times like 5:30 in the morning. Or people that call about three hours after I've fallen asleep, waking me up so that I can't fall asleep again. (Like today!)

What phone do you own? I have a treo 700p and downloaded a program where I can choose what people can call me when. example, on my days off calls from my work go directly to voice mail. Private numbers just get disconnected. It's worth checking out if you have a PDA phone.

I've got an old RAZR, which I got for free. I doubt there's anything like that program for that phone. If I was smart, I'd just turn off the phone while I'm sleeping or leave it in another room. (But then I worry that I'd miss an emergency call or something.)

When I'm at home I keep my phone in the bedroom or sometimes, in colder weather, I leave it in my jacket unless it needs charging. I don't keep my phone with me at all times when I'm in the house like most people, unless I'm expecting a call. So I usually miss legitimate calls when I'm in the other room watching TV or on the computer.
