Starting over is a bit of a pain in the ass. That's not just in terms of having virtually zero content, or figuring out how to migrate regular readers.
Somebody else already took the bigdarkcloud Blogspot name. Oddly enough, they haven't done anything with it.
Then, sometime between my taking the cursethesemetalhands Blogspot name a week or two ago and today, somebody has registered this name as a dot com. Which kinda kills any plans I had of buying that as a domain name and pointing it here. So, I'll probably have to change the name again. Which sucks, because I've already gotten one Google search result hit. (To be fair, I've had another, somewhat similar, name in mind for awhile that nobody has taken. Yet.)
Then again, if I point the bigdarkcloud.com domain name at this blog, I think it supersedes any name already in place. Plus, I already own that domain name for about another year before I have to renew it. On the other hand, I've been saying for awhile that I wanted a newer site name anyway, so I might just register a new name.
Name woes aside, I've still got a bunch of customizations to do. (I even made myself a list.)
All I know is, I'm pretty sure the old site is dead. I'm fairly certain it's not a PHP or MySQL problem, because when I tried to put up a plan HTML page explaining that the site was broken and providing some links on where else to find me online that page wouldn't even load. On the other hand, I can still FTP in and get mail from the old site, so I'm not certain it's 100% dead yet. I still plan on transferring all of the old files to back them up.
