THE SHIELD season premiere felt like business as usual. Of course, when you're one of the best shows on TV, business as usual is better than most shows best efforts. Still, it's been so long between seasons that I found myself struggling to remember how the last season ended and a few other details while watching the premiere. I guess I should've dug out the box sets in the weeks preceding the new season.
GOLDENEYE in HD in the free movies section of OnDemand all this month. I've already got an 720p x264 HD copy, and I own the DVD, but it's one of the better Bond flicks, so I'm sure I'll wind up watching in OnDemand at least once.
Speaking of Bond, today I got my hands on one of those 60s "eurospy" flicks. Eurospy movies were knock-offs of the James Bond flicks, usually made in Europe, although some were made in the US.
This one's called, MISSIONE SPECIALE LADY CHAPLIN and it's got an actual Bond girl in it. Daniela Bianchi, who played Tatiana Romanova from my favorite* Bond movie, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE. That was a selling point for me. I'm not sure when I'll actually get around to watching this movie, but I knew that I wanted it in my collection.
* Well, FRWL is tied with CASINO ROYALE.
It's worth noting that Bianchi later starred in another Bond europsy knockoff, 1967's OKAY CONNERY. That was probably the biggest Bond knockoff flick of all time. They also got Sean Connery's brother, Neil to star. Then they got as many of the real Bond movie actors as they could. Among them Aldolfo Celi (the villain from THUNDERBALL), Bernard Lee (the original M), and Lois Maxwell (Miss Moneypenny). I've only seen OKAY CONNERY as an MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 episode. Maybe one of these days I'll acquire the original uncut flick.
