USA Today tortures sci-fi fans, suggests flying cars could still happen. Forget the flying car. I want my robot (or robot body with my brain) first!
Comcast's moral obligation: If you cap it, help us count it. I imagine not providing a way to check your usage will cause a stir, especially once people learn that you get two strikes and that's it. No possibility of internet service through Comcast for a year. (I also imagine that because of this stuff that hacked wifi is going to become a bigger problem in the near future.)
What exaflood? 'Net backbone shows no signs of osteoporosis or Keep streaming videos, the tubes are fine: report finds. The internet needing bandwidth caps is bullshit.
P2P traffic drops as streaming video grows in popularity. I've read in multiple places, that legal streaming, not "illegal" downloading is what comprises most of the traffic on the internet.
File sharing is hard habit to break. Even when there are legal streaming alternatives, some people prefer piracy. (Hint: no unskippable commercials!)
DVRs save relationships: study. I guess it probably stops a lot of arguments couples have about who gets to watch what they want on the TV. What I don't get is how the article vaguely makes this out to be some new indispensable technology. Digital recorders are great, but it's hardly new technology. It's just the modern upgrade to the VCR.
The Death of DVD Sales in Korea a Trailer for U.S. Coming Attraction? Nah. With more and more providers looking at bandwidth caps (to give less while charging more and more), I'd say media on some sort of disc or other is here to stay longer than most people originally expected.
Comcast launches yet another way to pay for movie downloads. Announcing a bandwidth cap for your cable internet customers and then opening an online video downloading service that could easily cause customers to go over those caps doesn't quite add up in my mind. I wonder if Comcast plans on not counting downloads from this service as part of those 250 gigabytes of transfer that they limit their cable internet customers to each month. Certainly, one of the big reasons for the cap is to attempt to discourage people from using other services online (like Amazon Unbox or Netflix's internet video offerings) in an attempt to force people using Comcast internet to buy their OnDemand content from Comcast.
A little more about this new service here: Updated: Fancast download store part of a bigger plan.
Republican VP choice Sarah Palin tried to ban books. I wish somebody would liberate the Republican party from the religious whackos that have hijacked it. Anyway, it's amazing how much dirt people have dug up on this woman in just a few short days. All I know is I don't trust any politicians, Republican or Democrat. They're all out to screw the common man (and woman) over for their own gain.
GRAND THEFT AUTO helps young girl save family. Why are these people letting an 11 year old little girl play GTA? In this one instance, the coverage isn't negative, but it's still not a game for children.
Why I Am Leaving Guyland. Oh boy! An article on how not being married and going to church and all that boring stuff must mean that you're not leading a life that makes you fulfilled and happy. HAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, I couldn't disagree more.
