Links For 6-25-2008

SPIDER-MAN 4 coming to ruin your 2011. It won't ruin mine, since I don't plan on seeing it. Or at least, I don't plan on paying money to see it. (I'll probably see it when it hits cable or whatever.)

'Shake-up' for internet proposed. Bah, it's just more top-level domains. (For those of you not in the know, it's the .com, .org, .net, etc.)

NY Senate Passes Video Game Bill 61-1. Essentially they want the already voluntary game ratings enforced. Okay. Are they going to crack down on movies in NY as well? The MPAA's ratings are completely voluntary as well. Seems only fair. (Nevermind that this law is unconstitutional, and will get struck down like every other video game law like it has been thus far.)

Child drives car: VIDEOGAMES TO BLAME!. Some idiot doesn't supervise their grandchild, who takes their car and crashes into things. Then they say he learned to drive from playing Playstation. Huh? Observe...

They don't quite match up, do they? I could see if they tried to claim he learned to drive from an old arcade machine like POLE POSITION or OUT RUN.

In good video game news, LEFT 4 DEAD 4 November. November is shaping up to be good.

FBI Visits Leaker of Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy. I think it's time for musicians to start looking at their albums as nothing more than promotional materials to get people to come and see them live. Ticket sales and merch should be where they make most of their money. (After all, "tribute" cover bands aside, you can't really duplicate the live performance of the band.)

Using Google Trends to determine 'community standards' of obscenity. Nutshell: "dirty" words are seached for more often than "clean" ones. So should they still be considered "dirty"?

Kiefer Sutherland is Back as Jack Bauer In ... '22'?. You know that much talked about 24 season 7 prequel TV movie to make up for the lack of a season in 2008? Well, it seems that that two hour movie is taking two episodes out of the regular show's season. That's such bullshit.

Contrary to the title, this link is safe for work: Sienna's G.I. JOE boobs. Why did they cast a (nearly) flat-chested blond to play a brunette with big boobs in the first place?
